How many dispositive motions do you write per year? I’m averaging 3-4 per month, and am wondering if that is a lot because I have no other frame of reference (1st year in, commercial lit defense)

Depends entirely on your practice. It sounds like you’re working in a fairly high volume practice, with lots of cases. Employment lawyers also file lots of these motions and tend to handle a bunch of cases at once. We usually have fewer, larger cases at a time. So, I’ve filed one summary judgment and one decertification motion this year, and am currently preparing a motion to dismiss. That might be it for the year.

I do employment defense, maybe one MSJ per month. But they are all in federal court and our district has insane MSJ local rules, so these things are huge productions.

A couple a month. I’m a Plaintiff’s side civil litigation attorney. I take a very offensive approach.

I worked as a paralegal at a boutique complex commercial litigation firm before law school, mostly on the defense side. We filed multiple MSJs per month, depending on how many active cases we had.

I do about 5ish MSJ a week. It totally depends on your practice. I do plaintiffs civil lit

Whaaaat? Five per week? What kind of cases?

At my last firm, I averaged 2-3 per week along with 2-3 appellate briefs per month. It was fairly routine to draft, revise, and file an MSJ with exhibits in less than 8 hours. I was doing complex real estate litigation. Now, my practice is all plaintiff’s PI and Family Law so I havent written one in months. But yea, it really depends on your practice area

Does google ask only tell me about a time style questions as well or do they have more direct questions? Any tips greatly appreciated. Google

No clue if all the firms are like this right now, but going into q3 they're literally pulling all my staff as a manager because the staff have too much work. So basically, do everything on your own they tell me. Probably not getting reviewed either. Also they're unlcear on the vaccine mandates. It's like slave for us and we promise to not to be open and honest about whether you're gonna keep your job. I'm not even mad about if they mandate, but be clear! This place is so bad. I'll probably quit.
