How many hours a week is everyone really working and could you break it down? I’m having trouble working 70 hours a week (14 hours/day)
6am: wake up, brush teeth, put on clothes
6:30am: commute to work
7:30am - 8pm: work
8pm-9pm: commute home
9pm-10pm: cook and eat dinner, clean dishes
10pm-11pm: shower and ft my girl for 30 mins
11pm-6am: sleep
Starting to get depressed living like this Mon-Fri, bo time to gym or do anything. Anyone else in the same boat?

Used to feel that way before COVID. Now I work from home - been gravy ever since then.

Wake up at 8am. By 9am I am at the office, work till 1:30ish, then half an hour lunch (usually take food to office), work again til 6:30/7. Go home, have a workout (1 hour). By 9:30 i am usually having dinner. Then read something, work or chill and repeat.

This is the life

I’d rather shoot myself in the toe than work those hours ever again.

Can you move closer to the office or have a salad at your desk to get some more “you” time for workout or relaxation? This schedule does sound like a huge bummer.

like

How's that add up to 70 hours per week or 14 hours per day?

Anyways, the last stretch of 10 days for me was as follows

750am wakeup, shower, dress, and commute
830am - 12am work (2-3 times a week there will be a 30 min workout and I usually try to eat dinner with the wife as well for 20-30 mins but typically expensing food and bringing it on the way back from home
12am - 750am sleep

Friday finishes a little earlier around 7 and weekends are more flexible. Saturday I only worked 11am to 10pm and Sunday was 10am to 12am

Around 100 hours total, maybe a little less

“Only from 11am to 10PM Saturday” must be in IB haha

What division do you work that it’s 70 hours? Guessing IBD Front office? I’d suggest either moving closer to office and finding ways to maximize efficiency and try to leave earlier even if it means eating lunch at desk. Also take time off to really figure things out if you want to stay in the job

I did the math, it’s closer to 65 hours than 70 hours. I’m in Investment banking strategy so not front office

Yeah Im at a boutique and this is a common schedule for me too except it’s commute home at 8:30-9pm scrap up some dinner and keep working until ~midnight and wake up at 6 to do it again. Weekend work is around 8-10 hours

I can’t understand the appeal of spending every waking hour at work. Voluminous empirical research shows that that working that much makes you less productive more error prone, less creative. We all have a very short time to live life. Don’t waste it on a lose lose.
