I teach 3rd. I have 20 kids this year. Contract max for K-3 is 25 and 4-5 max is 28. If we are over the max, we get paid $2 per child, per hour extra.
3rd grade - I have 16 kiddos. State law say the limit is 18 at this grade level but can be stretched to 21.
Wow! Amazing
32 max is 28
33 now
I’m kindergarten with 16 students
We’re a charter, so we get to set it. We’re a 3 track school with 26 in each class. Kinder is never full, but everyone else is.
I cannot imagine. Our limit is 22, unless you have a waiver. 26 by yourself is too many. What state are you in?
25
28 kindergartners.
I’m first grade: I have 19 max is 20
Nice!!!👍🏻❤️
I’m first grade, 23, max is 25.
3rd grade, 25 kids (28 last year)
28 max is 32
5th, 32 max, 39 with inclusion. We ran out of space and had to sit on the floor.
Unfortunately not :( I was pretty laid back on taking on a few extra kiddos but that quickly got taken advantage of. I didn’t have the heart to push the kids off to another teacher so I decided to endure it through the end of the year, but I decided never again. I work in the Bay Area.
2nd grade, 22 kids.
Kindergarten - 19 currently, max 23. I had 23-24 the past 3 years.
2nd grade and we were only supposed to be at 17, then cap at 20 I have 23 and 19 can’t sit next to anyone.
I have a substantially separate classroom with 6 students.
26 in 4th
I’m the op. I have 27 1st graders now. It seems pretty clear when I compare this thread with the how much do you earn thread that CA earns so much more but has so many more students in our classrooms! Would you all trade large classes for more pay? (Our schools were built for much smaller classes.)
