LTI and Mindtree merger planned on 6 May as per media report . The brand name Mindtree will be dissolved. Seems appraisal discussions and hike is pending due to this event.
Don't expect good hike and people who can sense the future work culture , will start looking for the change now

Anyone here work at Wellington Management and is willing to chat with me about a Data Science / Quant role? Recruiter reached out and I’m considering whether I should interview for it. Currently work at a Global Macro Desk of a MM hedge fund (think Millennium, Balyasny, Pt72) and looking to understand more about firm culture, investment process, career prospects to the extent possible and comp. Thanks!

I have two thoughts:
1) novelty does help students remember. So I get the point of what she was trying to accomplish. I think it was at the least cringeworthy, and possibly much more, but that is for her district and community to decide, not the rest of us who aren’t anywhere near her. We all need to learn to “mind our business” much more and let others sort themselves out instead of looking for chances to be outraged vicariously.
2) I’m pretty sure this might fall under the two party consent wiretapping law in California and the student who recorded without the teacher’s consent may be liable or prosecutable. I’m not a lawyer, but this seems like an issue.
I'm worried about students being taught by teachers that think like this.
OUUUFFFF I can only imagine this is about that video I saw on Instagram…
Rising Star
30+ years ago, my teacher did something similar.
They dressed in what could only be described as a bad movie costume of an "Indian Chief" and he told us all a long and strange story about the Indian Princess SohCahToa.
He repeated the name so many times, and at the end of this thrilling story, he asked 1 question "What was the princesses name?"
Everyone remembered.
Today he'd be cancelled. He was the most dedicated, passionate teacher I've ever known.
Full disclosure, if he was around today, he would never do this. Times change.
Thank you for pointing out that last line. A lot of things that well-intentioned people did in the past would not have been done by them today. When we know better, we do better. Times change, cultures change, what is socially acceptable changes, and we need to adapt to that.
I would've said none until this morning. I was is complete shock at thay video. And she kept going and going and going and then there was a drawing on the board.
I feel so bad for any student that has come into contact with her. She's probably been saying and doing little and big things forever.

One colleague of mine would teach Some-Old-Horse Caught-Another-Horse Taking-Oats-Away. He had a song about it and everything set in the style of a drunken cowboy saloon toon. Think crazy prospector come into town to spend his last nugget on whiskey while singing about oat-stealing horses. The teacher brought his guitar in and everything.
I have no idea how well it would work in other districts, but our high school rodeo club is huge. Kids loved it and rarely forgot it.
The Native American thing is a new one to me. We’re relatively close to several reservations. I don’t see that going over well.
My school mascot is the Indians. Fully endorsed by our local tribe whose only request was that we update the mascot to something more appropriate, which we did. I cannot imagine disrespecting our partners with the performance the teacher in question did. I do remember my daughter being taught Soh-Cah-Toa, but only as a way to remember and not with the mythos.
I use oh hell another hour of algebra. No one forgets it and spelling challenged students can figure it out. So far no problems with using the word hell. 27 years in the classroom. Never liked sahcohtoa.
I hadn't heard that one before. Cute. :-)
