Yeah I have 10 months and freak out if I have a slow week ... and the thought of actually scheduling time off for a vaca is nerve racking. How can I accept the fact that I don’t have to work all the efffing time? It’s the main pro of freelance!
@OP when I freelance I’m the KING of the long weekend. Takes some of the pressure off of being dark for a full week or whatever. But, you should also schedule yourself a full week or 10 days in the summer. It really is important to take breaks. Financially, with 10 months, you’re doing great. So, just allow yourself to pull the foot off the gas a very tiny bit
Six plus having a steady stream of inquiries.
I have only turned down things because I’m already booked OR because my gut screamed fuck no run - that said, 6 months for smaller gigs would be my “yea nah” threshold
I have never felt comfortable turning down jobs. Even when I was overcommitted, it still made me a little queasy. That said, it’s a part of life when you’re doing good work and are well-networked. If I had to right now, I could go 3ish months without making massive changes to my life. If it went longer then I’d have to move things around money-wise and would be a lot more careful about expenditures.
