I would never rely on or expect a base pay raise in sales. I’ve seen it once that I can recall and it was 2%. Meaningless.
Instead, my biggest raises in base pay were when I moved companies. $36k, $55k, $90k, $120k, $150k. Double these for TC.
And of course base pay raise is meaningless if the product and company aren’t great and you don’t make sales. This was the case for one of my moves ($50-90k)
Ask. How does the company feel about base pay rates keeping up with what is happening in our economy for reps that hit target numbers?
Not sure. I think the OTE is too low and I have raised several issues around how we are paid. I am over target and have a strong upward trajectory so I hope the adjustment is to keep me around.
We’re meant to get a merit increase each year at my company, they’ve never been able to provide a % increase figure but it happens. Somewhere between 1-3%.
At my company they changed the commission structure, nothing about inflation was even mentioned and from what I’ve heard it’s over 9% year over year right now… but I think it’s well over 20% from what I’m spending on gas and groceries
I love these rhetorical questions 🤣🤣🤣
I received them annually at my previous company, so some companies certainly give them out. Appreciate the thoughts!
I've been here 7+ years and I only got one bump during that tenure, and it was when I discovered (as the #1 producer year after year) that I was being paid less than my peers. I think HR/management expects us to fight for base salary increases, and if we don't they leave us where we are.
We have indexation based on health index and others. This year its 4%
In my 20 years of selling, this has happened once.
