How many of you have actually taken paid time off this year w/o feeling guilty (or being made to feel guilty by others)?

I never feel guilty for this anymore. I suppose there were times I did early in my career. But once I figured out that this is a job like any other, where you earn leave time so you can take it when needed, I stopped worrying about it. I'm professional and I give notice. I would never schedule a day off on a day when I've committed to something with colleagues (like a field trip.) But general guilt for taking personal or sick leave that I've earned? No way.

I learned last year to use my personal days for my personal mental health. I've already taken one day this year. My principal actually encourages us to take care of ourselves.

I am taking my first day off next week. I need a mental health day because I need it. This year has been too much, and we're only halfway thru

If only there were enough subs!

Ok, this might be an exception, knowing that colleagues were covering. Not if I were taking sick leave in a necessary situation, but I might put off a personal day.

I took one day for religious observance. My administrator was slightly passive aggressive about it.

I feel guilty. I was excused from jury duty and returned in time to teach my last class of the day while the sub sat at my desk.

The only way I studied in college is by cramming. Sadly is so hard for me to get studying as it just seems like it’s so long of studying till you take the test and never ends. Have any of you guys passed FAR in a month of cramming? I’m also working but my clients are a little bit easier this time of year and have some PTO days at the end of next month. If you don’t mind sharing your studying techniques if you did pass in a month that would be awesome!

Need advice is this healthy behavior? It strikes me as possessive and toxic. MIL & FIL are demanding husband and I go on a trip with them and brother in law as a family. Are mad that we haven’t gone on a vacation together as a family ? Flipped out at dinner last bright because we want to do NYEs together as a couple instead of go on a trip with them + extended family to middle of nowhere canadA. Started gossiping about us on the other side of the room, in front of extended family.

Guys, need some help on salary negotiation tactics. I am new to consulting but have 10 years industrial experience and a MBA. Got an offer as M2 in Data Governance based in Dallas. Base offering is $165. I know most of you would say this is fair. However, I am currently in Canada and would have to do a hell of move. I want a bigger incentive to justify the move. Again any sincere advices are appreciated!

So I went through recruiting at ACN and the recruiter said they want to go forward with an offer. We discussed some numbers and she said she'll get back in a week. It's been 2 weeks and now I'm getting total radio silence. I was referred for the role and the guy who referred me also got a mail stating that they want to move with the offer. Anyone got any idea what could be happening?

My MIL has made remarks to my husband that she doesn’t understand why we need a nanny for our infant since I am able to WFH (I’m a biglaw associate). She also doesn’t get why we have a cleaner and dog walker and seems to imply we’re wasting our money by outsourcing funds on things we can do. She was a SAHM so I guess I understand why she feels that way, but how do I explain to her why these things are necessary? I actually love my MIL but this is driving me nuts.
