How many of you put out your resumes just to see what’s out there? Any findings from skill set to pay? I put myself out there recently and it was enlightening from salary to skill sets needed

I do it all the time. Love to know that if I were to leave S&O I could easily fetch another 30-50k elsewhere. Only issue is I don’t like working for no names. Quality of staff is much lower meaning more headache on my part.

How do you put yourself out there?

You should do it at least once a year. See what else is out there, and learn how underpaid you are compared to others in your area. Not only that but you also get to learn the reasons why you were even called in to interview. So far the main reason is "You currently work for a B4." That just tells me that the recruiter is lazy and is a HUGE red flag.

Care to elaborate?

Sure.... I updated my LinkedIn profile to see what the rate for someone with my skill set was and check out potential opportunities outside of consulting. For my interests, I realized I need to get away from more PM roles and focus on my technical skill set (from AWS, JavaScript libraries and frameworks etc). At my level at D, I am expected to get away from that depth of details. Needless to say, I am worth way more out of consulting based on companies I chatted with

But how? Did you just reach out to recruiters on LinkedIn?

So LinkedIn has a setting you can turn on that allows you to show up in recruiter searches. I turned it on and the floodgates opened. Recruiters and managers reach out with opportunities

Oh wow. I always wanted to do that but afraid my company would find out...you think it's a big deal if they saw that?

LinkedIn tries to not show your resume to recruiters from your company but you never know (say they register from a different account or use another company) . I don’t think it’s a big deal. I am sure they know most people have a LinkedIn presence

Right, like what's the worst they could do? Firing you for having a button turned on seems a little crazy....

Hahah exactly!

I’m on the verge of getting an offer from a startup company that was acquired by a $2bn company. I make $70k & no bonus. The offer would be $105k base+10% bonus. To get to the TC the startup is offering, it would take 3-4 years in my DTE at Accenture. The title is 3 titles up from what I currently am. However, it’s a step down from a brand perspective and I’d mostly be working with older people vs. people my age. Thoughts? Opinions?

Because of my hire date last year I wasn’t reviewed in last summer’s annual review cycle. My firm cut everyone’s salary by 25% in March and made major layoffs and more are coming. My favorite part about WFH is that I experience significantly less micro aggressions and/or discrimination than when I used to have to go to the office. The downside is that there will probably be less work for employment lawyers. I don’t mind making that sacrifice. It’s harder to have a hostile work environment when you don’t have to be in a work environment 5 days a week (sometimes 6). For context, I’m a POC.
