How many of you stay in corporate apts vs hotels? Just signed a corporate apt lease in a modern luxury building with great amenities. Same airfare and meal policy. Benefits outweigh losing the points?

I'm in a corp apt. For the benefits, if you can cook you won't get fat. Never having to pack is a distant second.

Nope did it for 18 months and really regret missing out on the points. All depends on the city/lifestyle. If you want to stay on weekends it makes sense but if you keep normal travel schedule, points are the only incentive to travel. Unless you Airbnb that bish out.

Can you stay at residence inn? You can get best of both

like

Some places have long term rates you can negotiate. Best of both worlds

It's not worth it unless you stay weekends. You got screwed on the points front

Marriott offer corporate apts, look into it, you still get less points

Does SPG do this?

Benefit: rent out your place at home (stay with fam or friends on weekends when you fly back or just travel) and live for free.

Doing that right now.. I gave up my apt a year ago and now stay with family and friends on weekends and got a corporate apt.. saved more $$ in the last year doing that than I have in years renting! #workperks

I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!

What kind of cell phone/internet reimbursement programs do your organizations offer? Any WFH stipends or other COVID related perks you've seen? I keep hearing from sellers they get all these things covered but no one else in the organization does, yet we all have to work from home and pay for these things anyway... like I'd for sure have a phone and internet even if I worked in a different field, job, etc...

Is it worth staying at aloft for double points? Or does double aloft points = normal Westin or W points?

I am hoping for some advice. I was a young mom (17 when pregnant) and ended up having three kids by 23. I’ve since pulled myself up by my boot straps and am doing well in my career and have seen good trajectory. The thing is, it’s always nagged at me that I never went to college. I don’t want to go to college in the traditional sense but my new employer offers some tuition reimbursement (if related to the job). I’m in tech, specifically software. What should I look into?

Does higher vault ranking (v10-30 compared to v80-100) open more doors for corporate in-house opportunities for a senior associate? If chambers practice area rankings and expected billable hours are similar and they offer the same DPW pay scale, does it matter less? Is it better to stay at/lateral to a firm where you might be able last longer to learn the necessary skills? Any personal anecdote or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

A while ago, my firm gave me great performance review, said I was ready for promo, but didnt have the necessary months at level. Client took the chance, offered me a promo and pay raise. So I left. I have been killing it, everyone agree I am "ready" for yet another promo but need more time and experience for the next level. So client subsidiary offered me that promo and pay raise, and now they are surprised I am leaving, what did they expect? Lol
