I’ve already been a proponent of WFH so it’s proof to me that I was right all along. I am on the road so often, that a WFH day every now and then is a blessing. And I always support my staff who want to do it as well. For junior staff it’s harder, they need to be around each other to learn, to collaborate, and for mentorship from more senior team members. Once you have a few years under your belt you can do it more easily.

I worked remotely for 4 years at my last gig. I’d be in one of our US offices 3 days a week and remote the other 2 (unless... pitches) — and it was great. It gave me days that were almost wholly devoted to reading, writing, creating — which is virtually impossible when you’re with people all day everyday. So i’m a big believer it’s possible (tho not for everyone). and this quarantine has only confirmed that. we’re putting pitches together over quarantine and it’s working. the days are long, and the weekends impacted — but the old assumptions that nbs could ONLY happen 100% in person (the ultimate proof of concept) can be called into question.

Imagine if this virus hit thirty years ago. If it wasn't for the internet, allowing WFH and communications, the economy would basically collapse. It could be alot worse.

Folks who’ve left ClearView, how is life on the other side, and how long did you stay before you jumped ship? It’s a week where I’m burning, and the fact that I feel so isolated during it makes me want to quit consulting altogether. Would also like to talk to some of you if possible. Never thought I’d say this but I honestly feel unhappy in my job, and I wonder if it is just WFH related - and whether it might get better once the office opens up.

Living alone in a new city, I thought WFH would be lonely and depressing. Turns out I love not dealing with coworkers AND I've been reconnecting with old friends on animal crossing. This isnt so bad😂

I never thought that I'd say this, but I want to see offices and cubes make a return to the workplace. Either that or 70-100% work from home. Only having the option of open workspaces is terrible.

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!

No joke. I just found out one of our ADs takes his Apple monitor home when he decides to WFH because working off his laptop is annoying. I mean, isn’t that why you have a desk...

Left my first job after just shy of two years because I was bored. Have been at my current job for about half a year and it’s a great resume builder but an absolute horror story (long hours, unreasonable clients, tons of weekend work that’s not worth the pay). If I left in a few months, at the 10 month mark, would that significantly hurt my chances of getting a strong exit opportunity? I can’t imagine staying here for the full year but I don’t want to blow my chances at leaving for a cool job

I’ve been through 5+ weeks of interviews with a company that will IPO next year and they did a bait and switch on me with the offer: it was advertised as “Head of” and then during the offer-walk-through-meeting today they said “oh btw we changed the title to ‘Senior Manager’ for this role”. They offered me a salary I made 4 years ago as a manager. They offered stock options with an exercise price TBD 1 year from now…which is when they’re hitting IPO. Is that normal for stock options?

I’m student teaching and I’m completely stressed out. I’ve been in an elementary classroom as a TA, but this is way different.

Just started a new role in finance and I’m the only woman on the team. It’s been 3 weeks and the guys have been pretty unwelcoming and kind of rude. The first day everyone was welcoming but it went downhill since. One of them keeps trying to scare me that the work will get hard etc and there’s always awkward silence and sometimes unnecessary rude remarks. I just started and don’t feel right what should I do.

This is a long shot but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I just changed to H1B status last Oct and my bank mailed me recently after tax filing deadline (I have filed tax in time using H&R block) asking me to fill out W9 if I am a resident alien / another form if I am not. This has never happened in previous years. Does it mean I missed a form using H&R block or is it related to the status change…?
