Define work. A few calls and checking email isn’t really work to me. If you log in from home and boot up a spreadsheet for a few hours it would be work, and that’s quite rare for me

Has a partner ever told you you couldn’t go on a vacation because of work demands even tho you gave them over a month notice of it? I’m only taking off 3 work days and I’m a 3rd year. My gut reaction is to take the vacation and they can fire me if they want but would appreciate other thoughts.

Any recommendations for vacation deals with a 2 year old? Looking for all inclusive resort packages or similar that are family friendly. Don’t really care where we go, just need to relax and ideally have someone watch our son here and there during the break

Is BEC doable with 8 days of studying? I will be studying all day as I am taking vacation.

I’m in the process of adopting a new puppy. However before this came through I had already schedule a ten-day vacation. Is it a terrible idea to go through with the adoption? Should I just postpone until I get back? Hire a pet sitter? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Pre-Covid: how many vacation trips do y’all take a year? Any idea of yearly budget for vacation trips? I’m a fresh graduate and I’m not exactly sure how I should budget/if I even should have a yearly budget for travelling leisurely.

My experience at Equifax. I was there for less than 6 months. During that time my manager yelled at me in front of everyone twice, I worked every holiday and weekend from October-March. My training was awful and I was put under a microscope. Every little thing I did wrong would be turned into a big deal while I watched others make bigger mistakes. My manager would tell me one thing, while my supervisor would say another (I was a contractor but that line gets crossed daily at Equifax)

Just returned from my combined family vacation with my SO. I initially thought it would be a great idea to being our parents along to show them a new country and give back for everything they’ve given us in life. Fast forward I’m more exhausted than before the vacation. My mother has been toxic all the way and didn’t miss out on a single opportunity to criticize my relationship. My in-laws were either talking all the time about random stuff or fighting between each other. Continuing…

Going back to work on Monday and I really want to quit and take time off. I feel burnt out and not interested in doing advertising/design anymore. Even after a long Xmas/NY break, I feel refreshed mentally but know that within a week or two I'll be drained again. Has anyone ever quit to take time off or taken a low stress/casual job elsewhere to reset their brain?

Has anyone taken an extended Rail Canada trip and can share their experience? When did you go? What route did you take? etc? Context: Husband and I haven’t taken a long vacation without kids in nearly a decade. We aren’t interested in cruises/beaches/resorts, but we do want to relax and not be urban explorers every day. Train travel seems like it might hit the mark. US-based so a Canadian rail trip is the closest for us. (I’ve done the better of Amtrak’s routes; they won’t be revisited.)

Thoughts on leaving public to go to a $200M plastic packaging company for an accounting manager position? They make plastic containers for food, medical retail, etc. Would be about a 30% raise, but less PTO and flexibility. 45 hours per week Oct-March then 40 or less the rest of the year.

So I went on an approved PTO for 4 days (approved almost a month ago) to celebrate my bday and my newborn kid’s first trip. The client had some issues while I’m out (nothing over the top) and my delivery exec called and asked me to login. I responded by saying “I didn’t bring my laptop and I don’t carry it while on personal trip”. He was so shocked and basically yelled at me saying “I can’t believe you travel without laptop”. To this I replied cont…
