I’m a front-end engineer, and I’m looking at getting a Masters in Data Science to help expand my experience and allow for easier transitions into engineering roles in more full-stack, backend as well as data science/machine learning, since a lot of my impressive recently experience is front-end related.
That said, I looked at my company’s internal salary ranges and front-end/back-end seem to be making more than data science/machine learning engineering roles. Is this common across the industry?

I'm one of 3 learning strategists at my school. However, I'm the MAIN strategist that cover for absent teachers. I just finished taking over a grade until it was filled with a new teacher. Admin works closely with the other 2. I'm not included in any school data/presentation to help the new teachers on staff. I believe the other strategists are working against me. They are assigned classes when I'm not available. The union says it's at the principal's discretion. What would you do?

What other profession besides education are you suppose to develop relationships with 150 students a day? These are to be meaningful student relationships where you know their likes, dislikes, strengths and weaknesses so you can help them learn your content as well as develop as an individual. Also, during each day you interact with colleagues and parents. Just curious if there is a similar career with that level of interaction with others.

How does your school district ensure that you get paid for trainings? Do you ever get shorted money in your supplemental paycheck? If so, how long does it take your district to fix the issue?

Our district can’t seem to pay teachers correctly for extra duty and trainings and puts it on the teacher to seek out the person who authorizes payment, rather than seeking out answers themselves, therefore sometimes teachers just throw up their hands, instead of engaging for that additional pay.

Has anyone experienced a mass exodus of teachers from their building or district? How did you/your district get through it?

I feel like it might happen this year in our building. I know many non-tenured teachers AND 20yr veteran teachers who are about to hang it up and call it quits. Culture in our building is the main cause.
