How many people have gotten sick of accounting and switched to something different like resource management? How was the experience?

I realize I am side-tracking your question. But are you sure that you are sick of accounting rather than the B4 culture (which is often extremely toxic and manipulative)? Would just hate to see you migrate away from a profession that you worked hard to get into and clearly have the capacity to succeed in, when you were sick of the culture and not the profession itself. That's unfortunately quite common in this industry.

Going to add, I can always go back. Tax managers are always in demand.

I know someone who boomeranged back to Deloitte from an industry job to do something like this. Would you be interested in recruitment? Most of the big 4 are hiring heavily for them.

Does contributing to 401k beyond the match make sense? You can’t touch it until you’re 59.5. If i were to invest on my own in various etfs Ill pay the 22% tax upfront and then cap gains would be 15% when i sell. I’d have freedom to use that money to invest in real estate. when i pull my yearly salary out in retirement I’d Atleast be in the 22% bracket if not higher. Since the last 3 dem presidents have increased spending like crazy i expect massive tax hikes in the future. Am i wrong?

I now understand why people don’t trust for profit medical institutions. For the last few years my doctor has ordered the same biopsies and tests for me. This year she ordered an invasive surgery. I got my medical records and had my friend who is a nurse read the documents, & she didn’t understand why some of the tests were performed or why the surgery was recommended when 1) the tests came back low risk 2) she said it’s abnormal to do that procedure, they usually go a way less invasive route.

I never thought being a mom would be this difficult. I am working full time, have an infant who wakes up every 3-4h and doesn't fall back asleep unless held in arms, am breastfeeding for medical reasons, and feel resentful and beyond tired all the time. I hate the fact that my body is so different to how it was before, that I don't have a sense of self any more, that I can't disconnect and take a break (and this is likely to not change for years to come). Is this normal or unfit to be a mom?

My son often says “this is my worst day ever” and “I should have never been born”….when I ask and make a big deal of it he says he’s “joking”. I’ve told him it’s not funny at all and that we could take medical help if needed (which goes into another argument that I think something is “wrong” with him). Is this normal? Anyone else face this issue?

I’ve had a serious medical issue with episodes of debilitating pain and I’m finally going to be getting treatment soon. This has given me a WHOLE new level of respect for everyone with invisible chronic conditions! No real confession, I guess, but🤞🏼my treatment works and that anyone else suffering turns the corner soon, too!

Has anyone taken Wellbutrin and experienced side effects? I’m 3 weeks into trying it out, and it’s worked better and faster than my prior antidepressants. But this week I’ve started experiencing pretty nasty dizziness/vertigo, which came on suddenly Monday morning. I don’t know if it’s just the latest physical symptom of burnout (which has been making me sick a lot lately) or if I’m experiencing some kind of side effect from the new meds.

I dont necessarily fit in this bucket and wished I had known the information you all have at your fingertips. I believe my picture would be totally different. I'm 60+ and will retire in the next yr. I think it is great that you all are doing well even for the perceived late starters. I started seriously saving in my early 50s. Over that time I have 2 mortgages no other debt and a nice nest egg. Curious though, how are you all going to cover medical in early retirement?

We all know consulting/advisory jobs in big 4 and mbb are tough and high burn ones. Expectations of high stress and long working hours are there. Why would people still want to work and stay in those jobs and expecting the companies to bend with their low stress tolerance.

Hello. I feel like my boss isn’t giving me credit for my work. They have a direct line to c-suite where I currently do not. I have worked on about 3-4 different projects and have essentially brought the projects to 95% completion. As a follow up my boss reviews my work or revises anything needs it and then takes the final product to share with executive leadership. I have sense that when the work is presented they aren’t directly stating that I did all the work. Pretty irritated. Thoughts?

First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?
