I will be applying for a Data Modeling Senior Associate position at a Big Four firm. It seems a bulk of the role would be doing statistical risk analysis for credit risk in the auto industry. Contd

ISO tips on not thinking about salary/promotions/comparing myself to others at work. I’m pretty junior and feel like it is getting in the way of my productivity and I just feel crummy doing it.
Hey Team - need your advice on negotiating comp at a startup. Currently working at Microsoft, Sr PM. Looking at an offer from startup - turing.com. They are offering principal PM role, Base - 220K / Stocks (not IPO'd yet) - 60k / year. No sign-on cash/bonus. Benefits - only health insurance for employee. Current comp - 163k base / 22k stock/year (3 yr vest) / 22k cash bonus/year. Benefits- best in class for a tech company. Thoughts?
Any advice on how to find a startup to join/exit to? I understand networking, but tips on where to start?
How can I set the stage this year to negotiate a lower billable hours expectation instead of a raise? As a woman I'm hesitant to be open about my reason: I want more time at home with my kids. I lateraled to this firm a year ago for WLB and they are indeed flexible on WFH which helps. Salary is a bit below average for mid-size firms like mine in my area, and I didn't get a raise or bonus this year because I didn't hit the billable target (1900). Ideally I'd keep my salary but go to 1600 hours.
Am I naïve to think I can have autonomy in an entry-level position? I'm a year in and I feel like I only supporting other people's projects and not owning any of my own. I'm stuck.
I know I am weird, but I feel like being a Tax manager is becoming too comfortable for me...and it feels weird to be in a comfort zone. And now that we know our salary, I feel like I am just waiting to get promoted in a year or two. Am I just easily bored? Anyone feels this way?
Do people nowadays value FAANG, or even startups (i.e Lime, Airbnb, Allbirds), more than consulting (i.e big 4) in terms of prestigious? Understand that position and firm matter, but want to (cont...)
Currently work at a national firm (BDO, RSM, GT) and have an offer from a Big four with a similar comp. Ive been thinking about it for a few days but cant seem to make the decision. Would appreciate any advice you can give or pros and cons. TIA.
help! what should be fair salary range for visual designer with some digital experience, 3 years (after graduating), at very small agency in NYC?
Hi All, I have been asked for an interview in EY next week, Although the HR said it will be based on my resume and will include my skills. I am not sure how to prepare for it. Please suggest. YOE - 2.3 Applying for Associate roles based on Data Analytics I applied through referral and application was in review stage from last 3 months.
Expecting a CMAAS experienced associate offer from Pwc transferring from audit. When can i expect a senior promotion and what is the salary i can expect? Is it negotiable?
I have just completed my first of 12 CIMA exams and I can’t seem to motivate myself to study at the expense of my side hustle when I don’t see myself in Consulting long term. I know I will gain some valuable lessons from CIMA for future ventures but it is a 3 year qualification alongside a demanding job with minimal downtime. Should I try and qualify or focus on saving money and my side hustles? Also, do I need to qualify to work as a consultant in Big 4 or can I opt not to sit exams?
Low and even negative yields have turned some fixed income investing into “fixed expense” investing
Hi eyeryone! I am super new to this so plz bare with me. Is it possible to have a pure supply chain role as an exist opportunity at FAANG? I am sure that’s possible at Amazon but how about the rest?
Client wants to claim nanny expenses from 2020 on Sch H but did not withhold any of the payroll taxes or issue a W-2 (seems to have been a cash deal). What is the proper treatment on the client (employer) 1040? Claim the full amount as if they did withhold and somehow get that money from the nannies? Only claim employer half and assume the nannies are claiming on their 1040?
Got a screening call with a recruiter from Google for a program manager role in security. Not a technical PM. What should I expect? Also any idea about TC range (NYC, 15YOE, masters, cyber certs, etc.).
What was that trainwreck last night?!?!? I know we're not supposed to talk about politics, but my comment is bipartisan. Our gov is a mess and our leaders unbecoming! What will our students learn from this? What can we do to make it a teachable lesson?
I fucking hate the expectation that "men must provide" or "women must act a certain way". That's damaging to a lot of relationships. I love division of labor and working with each other's strengths and weaknesses without so much emphasis on gender roles. I'm a big supporter of utilitarian relationship that strives for the good of the partnership and each party.
How should one handle a strategy test for an interview and providing past client strategy example? The interviewer wants to assess thinking skills but looks like the test is for an existing client of theirs and I’m cautious of providing a recent strategy deck from my current place of work for an existing client.
What's your favorite healthcare smell? I was thinking about this while smelling chloraprep- I love it!
Is it easier to 1) go from one FAANG to the FAANG company of your choice? 2) go from a top agency to the FAANG company of your choice? In case that makes no sense: is it easier to go from Amazon to Google or from Wieden to Google?
I was interviewed for a role with a bank almost 3 months back. Till date I havent heard back on the outcome. Do you think it makes sense now to drop a note to one of the interviewers to get an update?
I heard the PwC has a tier system in the region for the compensation. From what I've seen, NYC, San Francisco and LA are in the same tier(tier 1). In that case, would you get the same base pay even though LA's CoL is much lower than NYC and SF?
EY High Deductible Health Plan vs Open Access Select (don’t have EY bowl access yet) I just started at the firm and am trying to pick my healthcare. I don’t really ever go to the Dr so I’m thinking of getting the High Deductible plan. My question is, what does it mean that it’s not a “national network (Is this a national network?: No)” but it’s “network coverage: see any licensed doctor”? Those seem to contradict. Also HSA vs FSA, as a healthy 26yo, which is right for me (High D only has HSA)
What are some of the resources you use for researching business / industry trends? Gartner, HBR, MBB white papers?
Hi Ladies! I was recently introduced to a new concept, and am curious to get thoughts of peers. Have you heard the term or ever experienced “medical gaslighting”? If so, what are your thoughts? I personally feel that it is relatively systemic, and likely impacts women more than men. What if anything can we do to push back against it?
Anyone can provide insight as to what exactly prospective and retrospective interviews are and how to prepare?
trying to decipher: Persons background is very technical and they are the "go to" for technical matters on the team. When projects are being considered, they are usually last in line for inclusion
Can I travel to India when my renewal is being processed? My H1B expires next July, but i plan to get married in q1 2021. I am assuming that's when my firm files for an extension for the second time.
