After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Hi everyone! Idk if I need advice or I’m venting but I’ve been looking for jobs actively right now and want to make a switch soon. There’s a gap in terms or compensation for the jobs I’m being approached for. These jobs offer the same compensation I’m at or slightly higher (5-7%). This is demotivating and I honestly don’t know what to do. I don’t make an awful lot (105K in NYC) and I’m looking for a 20-30% bump in terms of compensation. Am I crazy here?

What would you do in this situation?
I have my last day at employer A right before thanksgiving and will be covered on their health insurance through 11/30. I am taking some time off before starting a new position with employer B in mid January but their insurance wouldn’t be effective until 2/1. I have 60 days to elect COBRA under employer A, which leaves me with 2 days where I wouldn’t have coverage (Jan30/31). What would you do in this situation? (Cont)

What to do if your SM is not competent and you feel project is falling behind? Can't really go to MD bc he has relationship with the SM. Also doesn't sound good coming from a consultant. Do I just need to work extra harder?
