My sister is currently doing it and she going to go through 3 rounds: HR phone screen, Manager, Partner. So far she has made it past manager fingers crossed on last step of partner.
My friend I referred (college recruiting process) did I believe 4 rounds: HR, Manager, Case Study (Director), and Partner
Both referrals were for SAP my sister is experienced associate and my friend was college recruiting associate. Not sure why college process seemed more intense but that was 3yrs ago so maybe things have changed or just more competition at college level so weeding ppl out.
I had an unusual process and didn't quiet interview right/ kinda got slotted in a weird way (maybe by accident) from a diversity summer program that I only had to do two easy conversational Partner interviews to get put in. Then I was slotted for Advisory Internship then I went full time. Not complaining but also no realistic path to follow (tried to get some friends in after and they were like "not sure how you got through but no they have to do full interviews"). I'm currently performing really well and might be promoted early or if not then mid-year so looks like I was a good pass through lol.
3 - manager and director phone screens then I met a partner in the office.
I had 5. One HR screen, 2 directors, 2 partners
Pro
I did 2 rounds. Manager phone screening, in-office meeting with Partner and two directors, offer in 24 hours.
Canadian office - 2 on demand followed by two managers. Was told there would also be a partner but I got the offer right after both managers
Totally depends on the candidate and practice area
I did 5 as an internal transfer ... it also likely depends on the group you’re interviewing for. Higher specialty and/or smaller team you will likely have more interviews.
3 is standard in my practice. HR, manager, senior manager/director, and director/partner.
I had 4
