Is it worth to join cerner for 45%:hike (my current package is 18 lpa and cerner offering 25 fixex and 27 as a ctc) and leave hcl ? (Hcl is trying to retain me and offering 23 lpa package and 100% promotion)
For major concern is job security and work life balance.

Hi Nagarrians, it's been 45 days now since I joined Nagarro I was assigned a team at the time of joining but since then I am waiting for interview to take place. Is this normal procedure? Although from day 2 my project manager asked me to fill the timesheet corresponding to one project which is no billable. I am having concerns now as I don't know if this is normal ?
Hoppinโ some islands.
Anyone have thoughts on CS C&R team?

I am still writing code. Been partner for over a decade. Code is fun!
Scare the cr*p out of teams from time to time when I randomly spend 30 mins walking their code. Taught myself Ruby to construct some home devices. I think itโs great to be able to mix deep business acumen with โwhat it takesโ capabilities...
Still write code from time to time. No one is above getting stuff done. Having both technical chops and the ability to talk business will get you far!
Those who can do, those who can't code review.
Just last week I pseudocoded a recursive approach to a problem for the team. The non recursive method was bulky and risky for bugs. You never want to stop coding. It is some of the most fun I have. Don't think that becoming a manager means you move away from being a technically competent leader. I respect the coders on my teams as the critical resources doing the tough work that they are.
You guys are so uplifting ๐ thank you ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Have been purely functional for a really long time and it seems like a move taking me back? Should I embrace the opportunity (get to learn new tech and get me up to speed) or let go and look for functional gig?
I am a consultant but my manager codes. He codes so well. As a consultant its awesome if you manager knows your pain and support you or even share your work load.
I love sitting down and debugging with a team member.
Always reassuring to see MDs and Partners making these types of comments!
Iโm an M working on getting more into coding. Donโt intend to do it full time but seeing the work skew more technical. Got to have the tech chomps to stay relevant
Iโm learning to code and it is very fun. I canโt see why you would stop as you became more senior. Being able to solve a small problem for the client goes a long way for your reputation as someone who is there and really is will to do whatever it takes
I donโt code but I know how to read code and have shocked the dev team a few times by pointing out the exact line of code causing issues during testing and / or suggesting ways to make it more efficient.
I find it helps me get objects turned around quicker given the language barrier thatโs sometimes there with myself and team in India. They may not understand a functional requirement completely but they definitely understand when I tell them what to do in the code directly.
I stopped writing code when I became M2. Helped me a lot to focus on sales and client management. Partner put me on fats track and I became SM in another 2 years. Total 3years from M to SM which is not common in D
D2 - for your project???. I've been doing it on the side as hobby...So am very comfortable with it.
D2 are you okay? The reason why I want to get out of development is to avoid debugging all this shit
Are you kidding man? Open up an ide. Watch some variables. I am in heaven. Go deal with the politics between a CIO and CEO. That is the waste in my day.
You know what. After 10 years or more in management tell me if you don't miss fixing the odd bug or two. Something real. Something that is simply done and checked off.
I jump in and code for my team when needed
I love to code but try to avoid it at work to a kid getting pigeon holed into a specific tech. I do get to review tons of code and love the look on the client's senior dev faces when I point out obvious flaws in their logic flow or memory leaks.
