I'm joining EY next month for tech stack ODI, PL SQL. how flexible is it to change a skill set or project after 18 months in EY? I want to eventually move to the data engineering side. ODI (Oracle data integrator) is a niche tool which will go extinct in future and I want to move other technology hopefully in EY.Deloitte Accenture Tata Consultancy

Yeah, no one cares about how many firms you were at when your up, it’s all about your book or potential to keep, grow, or obtain one.
Good advice, P3 and C1. Frankly, I just did 2400 this year and I feel fine. It’s the unpredictability that sucks. 2600 is 217/month and 54ish/week (incorporating 4 weeks off), all of which I think are totally doable, provided that the work is there. If I’m sitting around for a new matter and now need to put in 85 hours bc last week was a dud week, that’s where it’s hard.
The market is so hot and partnership tracks are so elongated nowadays (folks waiting until 10-12 years in for consideration) that I don’t think it’s really a big deal.
I’m at my fifth firm and just made partner. 2008 grad. I’ve been at my current firm for almost 6 years.
I was just was trying to move my way up to big law. Each firm got bigger and more prestigious so my story made sense. There was one outlier to that but I realized very quickly I made a mistake and left within a year.

Anytime you lateral you will take 2-3 years to be put up anyway, unless you have a book of business.
