How many weeks parental/maternity leave do you get when you are not the 'primary caregiver'? Also what can you do to qualify as the primary caregiver?

At EY, both parents get 16 weeks

2 weeks on top of PTO. Significant other needs to be working to qualify as primary.

@ey1 - only if you are the primary caregiver... I've used the plan twice (once under old rules and once under the new.) Your SO could take time off though, and then go back to work. You could then take the full time.

We get 6 weeks full pay, either parent (not counting ST disability or FMLA)

Can someone walk me through how to do a backdoor Roth. I have a traditional IRA with Vanguard and with the max contributed for this year. But I don’t have a Roth account. Can I still roll the $$ over? Is there any point to rolling it over now while I’m above the Roth contribution limit? Or should I wait until I leave this job for a lower paying gig sometime in the next few years? Also, I I am maxing out my 401k and cannot take a dedication on the contributions to my traditional IRA.

For all the people who say we should max out our 401k, IRA etc, Are you guys saving most of your spending money to have wealth after retirement? That’s after 65? Let’s say we live up to 80. Ideally we work close to 45 years to save for the next 15 years. At this point, we will have social security benefits from government. What’s the point of retiring with millions of dollars if we can’t enjoy the money till 65? I know a lot of you doesn’t have this opinion,Just think about it:) Enjoy your life!

Ladies, I had a breakthrough with my boyfriend and I am so proud. I have encouraged him to go to therapy for years. He grew up with a father who is emotionally abusive. He felt like he didn’t need to go because he could just “handle it” (part of the toxic culture he was raised in) so I stopped pushing. Yesterday he told me he was going to therapy to try it out, I said okay, and made him a coffee to go. He came home, hugged me, cried, and read me a list of things he was working on. 🥺💛
