I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?
Got an interview with Amazon within their Advertising department. I hear working for Amazon can be great if you get into the right department. Anyone have insights to their advertising department? Good or bad? Also, would love some interview tips if you have them! (It’s for an Executive Assistant position) thank you!

It really depends. I was a paraplanner for 4 years before becoming an advisor, but I left the firm I was at to do it. I got my CFP while working as a paraplanner so I could be more marketable as an advisor. If you aren't getting what you need where you are as far as career track you may need to look around
I’ve found most companies (that aren’t bulge brackets) are typically meritocracies; if you show your worth you’ll reap the rewards. Make a point of what was discussed and your aspirations in 1:1s / review meetings and make sure it’s documented. Also, don’t underestimate the power of ‘don’t ask, don’t get’
