How many years of agency experience do you think prepare you well to go in-house? I’m at 5 years exp and starting to think that’s my next move within a year, but wondering if it’s too soon.

Haven’t been in a quota carrying role in 5 years and am looking to switch back into sales or sales engineering. Been in consulting and product management the last few years. Biggest hurdle will be demonstrating my ability to hit quota. Any advice for jumping this hurdle??

Would you 1.) try and get promoted while pursuing a side hustle or 2.) stay in current role and focus on side hustle?

About to begin the recruitment process for BCG and am coming in from EY where I’m currently a manager. I have pretty good work life balance: 8 am to 7 pm and on fridays, I can sign off at 3 pm. I worked as Comms Dir. for 6 years at a nonprofit that hosts conferences as its primary activity. 3 yrs back, financial problems gutted staff and my position was eliminated- due to my intervention, my direct report remained. This person I hired and trained has done well, organized and efficient. It is now time to staff up for another conference and I’m welcome to return, but my direct report is being promoted to Comms Dir. they’d like to split the role somehow, but I can’t figure out how.

I (31 yo) left agency for a really stagnant, boring and dead-end (but cushy) corporate comms role (been here for 3+ yrs now). I've freelanced a lil bit on the side and I'm thinking of doing it full time, but I worry that i'm too used to the structure of my work and might not have the drive for freelancing.
