Any tips for non-MBA or business background folk in preparing for interviews? I have upcoming 1st round mcK interviews and trying to tow the line of bringing my non-business-founded strategy ideas into the cases (i work in International gvt) or stick to talking about business concepts only? My case assessment was extremely fast so my sense is I wont get the chance to do both but im also imagining that part of their interest in me is for my non-business-founded strategy experience
Hello fellow MBB fish! I had a question I am hoping to get insights on. I accepted an offer from McKinsey in NYC and was supposed to start in March, which I now pushed to May.
What’s the point of grades in an MBA
I have CPA and am thinking about getting another certification. CFA may be too difficult for me. Would CFP a better and useful certification to get that will add value to you on resume/job?
For those who did a consulting internship during your MBA, did it accurately reflect what it's like to work at your company? Or has your time at the company since been different?
To those in non-MBB: Would you rather have an offer in hand right now for MBB or FAANG pm? Assume it’s a lateral transition.
Considering pursuing FRM certification. Currently in FS and don’t have a background in business/finance (studied Econ). Would FRM help bridge the subject matter knowledge gap?
Why on earth did I decide to get into IBD AFTER getting my MBA? I really question my decision9making skills sometimes.
Anyone applying to MBA with a social impact consulting background (Dalberg, Bridgespan, FSG, etc.)? Curious to hear how your story goes, thank you!!
What kind of consulting do post mba consultants do at EY since Parthenon is blended in now? And what’s a good reason for switching from Deloitte to EY for post mba? TIA
for those of you who have gotten multiple offers from MBB, which did you choose and why? Looking back would you have done the same

Mba hires, are you jealous of your ug hire coworkers? I mean they’re doing it younger and have the flexibility to not pay for the mba
Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?
Unpopular opinion: I think an MBA is a waste of money for practising lawyers. Let me run before I get fishbowl stoned to death 😂😂. FYI - for those who might want to attack me for lacking an MBA. It's true, I don't have one. But actually have 2 postgraduate degrees in Law.
Took my last CPA exam this morning and hopefully I can just be done. Dont think I did as well as I could have and really just want this process to be over.
California CPA exam - if I only received an NTS initially for two exams, to get the NTS for the last two, do I need to reapply to the CBA and mail in the $50 reapplication fee?
Any one who has done CSCP certification and can help guide through the exam preparation ?? Does it help when applying to MBB??
Corporate development role at indeed.com. Anyone else get that haha? Any thoughts! M&A specific so could be cool just not sure about the company. Would like another comp
Would you go work for a private company that offers a lot of growth opportunities, high salary and 40-45 hour work weeks, but doesn’t allow WFH and is pretty strict on the 8-5?
Tired of traveling. Not sure if my background makes it easy to transition into a sr. leadership role in industry. Options?
My overdue promotion (PM to Sr PM) is in progress, but processing is taking a while due to company Covid delays. Is it inappropriate to ask my manager what the salary increase will be? (It’s killing me to wait and wonder if it’s lower than I’m expecting)
I’ve been laid off and, as I embark on my job search, I’d like to keep my marketing skills sharp. Any recommendations on must read books, or resources?
USA has been hit with the largest amount of layoffs in our industry, since I arrived here 10 years ago. What a f*** is going on? Is Trump the reason?
When do you know it’s time to move on to a new agency? I’m coming up on my first year and feeling very apathetic about my employer right now. It’s not that we haven’t produced great work or that my team gives negative vibes... but I feel an urge to move. I was feeling this pre-covid but after them not really doing much in response to blm and getting approached by a couple recruiters should I start biting? I know grass isn’t always greener but I kinda want to see for myself.
Current undergrad. Have internship offers for two very different roles. The first is a public sector generalist management consulting position in DC. The second is for a smaller early-stage incubation venture capital firm in NYC. I've always been somewhat of a generalist, with varying interests. I feel as though based on my decision my life could go in very different directions... Any insights? Esp if you're in public sector consulting or have made a similar dec. Gratitude.
I’m a product marketer looking to switch into PM. I’m in the interview process for a senior PM role, but the product is not that exciting and I’m a little concerned the company is stale (it’s a legacy product and the company has been around for a while). Would it be worth it to get the PM title? (Alternatively, I’m considering taking a senior PMM or even PMM director role at a series A startup and then making the move to PM later on.) what’s the better move here?
Is there an appropriate way to turn down an assignment because it is non-billable? Two of the partners I work for keep asking me to write client bulletins and articles with them, which is great, but now I’m starting to worry about meeting my billable hours requirement.

I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
I am very conservative in investment. Have $650K in CDs/HYS, $50K in stock funds, and maxing out 401K. I have no debt except $520K of house mortgage @ 2.6% interest rate (house value is approx $1M). Does it make sense to pay out a portion of the mortgage or should I invest more in the market?
Am I the only one freaking out about layoffs at KPMG? (Can't update profile to KPMG for some reason) We are all on pins and needles waiting!!!
Have an offer with Accenture Interactive. 30% salary increase but nervous about the increase in hours. Currently pulling 40/45 at Deloitte. Can anyone provide insight into the culture at Accenture Interactive?

Condolences to the family of the teacher in North Carolina that recently died from Covid. Sadly-she won’t be the last of our profession to die in the “line of duty.”
