Banks kind of have title inflation. I know someone who was called a VP at Citi in a marketing function maybe 5 years out of college.
Rising Star
That’s manager level. Generally 2 or 3 years analyst, 2 or 3 Associate, then VP. Depends on bank / individual of course
There are VPs with ~5 YOE and VPs with 25+ YOE; they are not all the same and that part of our title means nothing, not even the pay range.

Can confirm. I have somewhere between 4 and 14 years of experience.
Chief
VP is Ike a manager in professional services
What is it that you want to do for a living, title or no title?
Well my Citi contact wound up in a similar but more interesting role at YouTube with lots and lots of GOOG stock! So you could do something that motivates you too.
I agree with title inflation. Banks have titles for positions that seem higher than they are
VP in financial services is generally equivalent to "Senior" - Senior Project Manager, Senior Software Engineer, Senior Business Analyst, etc.
It is not an incredibly meaningful or uncommon title at a bank, and usually the SVP level is where you start to actually move into leadership and manage others.
So SVP = VPVP?
