I joined this firm in early 2011 and they had 50% match until I hit a certain level. I also had an aggressive set of funds I chose until this year when I turned it over to a FA provided by ACN. I actually had done better than them but the swings are smaller now.
So I believe I was getting 24-27k a year (depending on the year and contribution limit) with the match plus growth.
Some good fortune - sponsored b school, minimal college debt - and then I spend very little - 25k/year all in (rent plus food plus vacations) for three years post undergrad, then a big ramp up to 60/year for bschool and on but with a big salary bump too. Plus an MBB salary all along. Probably around 100-150k of the total due to appreciation (I'm about 90% in just index funds, nothing fancy, but it's been a nice long bull market)
Lol post was just for 401K. Not every financial instrument you have up your sleeve. 😂. 98K 26
$34k. Been working 1.5 years out of grad school, age 28
$465k / 37. 280 is from previous industry job. Have also been doing Roth IRA and backdoor IRA contributions for the past 10 years or so.
I had about 40k when I was 26 but I quit my job and used it to start a business and find myself. I would've had a lot mor, but no regrets at all. That was one of the best decisions of my life.
Rule of 72 learn it. $800+k in 401k, 44. After I have left an employer I roll it over to a qualified plan that I have with Fidelity and have invested in agressive funds. Not counting personal investments, 3 rental properties with equity(that I pull out and investment in market or another property) plus home I live in.
I feel I just need to eat Raman for a year and not go on vacation. Sigh.

@BSC I just contribute the maximum every year and keep it in the market.

Most is from industry job, where I started contributing when I was 19. ATK is 50% on first 6%, but they also do 10% of profit sharing into the Roth 401k.
22k, 27
EY3 - it's not just want you put into it but the return on your investment. The earlier you contribute the higher the return over time. I started maxing at 23.
52k 31... how the heck you guys have these numbers
A2 gains over the last 8-9 years have almost nothing to do with Obama
I would put the % of people vastly inflating Thur valences here at 85%
