How much business do you have to generate, on average, to make equity partner at a firm in the latter half of the AmLaw100?

Any recommendations for good sales courses / books to learn or be better at "how to sell"?

Not sure where this post belongs because I don’t think it’s an excel solution, but I want to be able to pull data from various direct datafeeds (and be able to pull in reports from say excel as well).

Once I get all the data in the same place I want to make sure all the data looks the same before I begin manipulating it (consolidating/mapping fields essentially)

What’s the right software to do this? Is it as simple as having direct feeds integrated with Access or is it something else entirely?

Why is the tech we have for biglaw so ass backwards. I hate relativity. I hate MS word. I’ve waisted so many hours of my life formatting a doc. and trying to figure out whether a document was produced or not, the bates stamping, and other inane projects.

I’d like to get modest appreciation gifts for some of the junior associates I work with (think bottle of wine, maybe chocolate), but some are in other offices. Any recommendations on how to do this, or should I just send them a gift card?

what is the typical timeline for preparing for a civil trial? A medmal trial is scheduled for end of November and is estimated 2 weeks due to the number of defendants. How many weeks in advance do you start to focus majority of time and billing to trial prep?

Normal situation? I am a second year associate that lateraled to a hyper-specialized practice group a year ago. Since joining, I have only worked with one partner. The issue is my workload. Usually at least once a day I am stuck with no billable work, most often because I have just submitted something to the partner and she is reviewing. I am not on track to hit our hours target. The partner has not given any real negative feedback, just have anxieties about workload. Any advice?

I’m looking at lateral offers from Gunderson and Goodwin (both east coast). I want to focus on VC/EC clients. I know both are well known in the area, but which is better? I know Gunderson is known for more early stage work, but is there a benefit to being at a full service firm like Goodwin when I know that what I’m looking for will be at Gunderson?

Texas biglaw: which firms are offering flexibility (at least two days a week of WFH) going forward?

My firm is saying “we aren’t mandating a return but once vaccinated we encourage you to be in the office frequently.” I am still going to WFH twice a week until yelled at but would like to lateral to a firm that’s more flexible.

I want to apply for an in-house role with the client of a partner in my practice group. Is the partner likely to find out that I applied?

Is it better to apply for a position directly through the firm’s website or use a recruiter who has been emailing me about that same position? Would also appreciate insight into the pros and cons of using a recruiter vs. firm website vs. asking an associate at the firm to submit my application.

The only other mid-level associate in my group is out on parental leave and I’m being drowned with their work and mine… but I’m giving notice in a couple of weeks. I don’t know how to cope with my huge workload and my simultaneous almost-out-the-door outlook. Any advice? Just got staffed on two new deals today…
