What counts as “above and beyond” when you’re expected to work yourself to the bone as a baseline? A mentor has asked me to provide them with a list of “above and beyond” tasks/accomplishments for the year so they can advocate for a discretionary bonus for me. I’m obviously grateful, but after going through law school and now big law I no longer have a reasonable idea of what “above and beyond” even means. FWIW, I’m a 2016 grad, second full year at the firm after clerking + stub. Any thoughts?
