how much $ can I make in tips as a bartender?

Tips are super volatile, depend a lot on what city you live in and the specific restaurant you're working at.

I see, I suppose I'll just have to test the waters

like W1 said, it depends. If you already got the job, your best bet is to ask your coworkers to get a better idea

Will do, thank you for the advice!

If you're attractive, charismatic, or funny then you can probably make more than other people in your position. If you have all 3, you can expect to rake it in. Just keep in mind that the amounts are all relative to where you're located

Hmm okay well I like to think I'm at least one of those so hopefully it works out for me

If you work at our restaurant, very little. We got some stingy customers but at least we get well compensated for our time

It really depends on the spot. A high volume, upscale bar/club you’ll crush it. A restaurant bar, maybe. How busy is the bar? What kind of customers? Basically, the higher the volume and the more upscale it is, the better the money. Sometimes how upscale can offset volume or vice versa because you’re making more tips with less work or you’re making a ton of small tips with extra work. Best way to find out is ask your coworkers for an average.

It depends on what night you work. If you work weekends, then you could make up to $1000 easily. If your shifts are in the more chill days of the week, way less, but it can be enough to survive.

As a bartender, you can make a lot of money in tips. Some people make as much as $100 in tips in a night. Of course, your earnings will depend on the size of the establishment, the type of drinks you make, and how busy it is. But if you're good at your job and provide great customer service, you can make a lot of money in tips.

It really depends on the establishment you work for, your skill as a bartender, and how much you hustle for tips. But on average, you can probably expect to make anywhere from $50 to $100 in tips per shift. Of course, there are always exceptions, I know a guy from NYC who said that tips in Midtown on a Holiday were insane.

Depends on the bar. Location, clientele, days/hours worked all play as determining factors

One thing I keep having to remind myself is that career mobility is higher than ever. Have gotten several offers at this point from companies that I "kind of like", and have been holding out for the dream companies. But I should probably just take a solid offer elsewhere. It would give me a foundation to build up skills and experience, and continuously applying for jobs while having a solid job is probably a lot less stressful than needing the perfect job before I graduate my MS degree in 2 mo.

I’m a junior attorney, and my goal is to work in-house for a professional sports team (preferably an NBA, MLB or NFL team) or a record label, but of course these positions are highly-coveted. I started down the traditional path of working in biglaw (NYC) to receive the necessary training and experience while also trying to build relationships. However, biglaw really isn’t for me, and I’m exploring regional firms in Boston. Is it still possible to break into the sports/ent. industry? Any advice?
