How much did you spend per person on holiday gifts this year? Curious what most people are doing. Talking to friends I feel cheap. Although I’m a proud miser and don’t care, I’m just curious.

I’m a director. Spent just over 250 on my wife and about 200 per kid.

Personal, about $500 per kid, $3000 on my wife, $500 on my parents, $150 on each of my nephews. Then about $30 on each of the staff through senior managers I work with and my counselees.

Proud miser, never had emphasis placed on gifts in my life and it carried into adulthood. Husband and I aren't exchanging this year because we spent a lot of money on house stuff. $50 per parent, and $25 each for the few friends and children we do. Honestly I spent the most on a "sponsor a family" type charity my work does. Very little Christmas shopping for me!

I would willingly spend up to $100 or so for each immediate family member. But usually can’t find anything in that price point that I know they would want that they haven’t bought for themselves already. And honestly if I don’t find anything it’s either something smaller in the 20-50 price range or nothing.

Senior 1. About 250 on wife. Then we spend about 150 a person on two sisters and then each parent

Spending about $300 on wife. Every other year we have done no gifts or an agreed upon joint gift. This year we decided to do a big gift for each other since we have a kid incoming and imagine that will change things for a bit. Generally I spend about $40/gift on people. I don't like giving expensive gifts or receiving them. I give in other ways (charity, volunteerism, acts of service, cash for family when dealing with issues).

I typically do $100 for boyfriend and $50 for family, and $20 for friends.

$3k for mom, 1.5k for dad, senior 😩 asian parents only want cash 💰

Poor dad! (That’s a ton of money, though...wow)

$100-150 for each sibling & parent (5 total). Thinking to spend about $20 per friend for 3 friends.

$25 per person. If it’s more than that, I get my sister/sister in law/brother in law to pitch in depending who it’s for.

Senior 3

Staff 2, 24. Spent $300 on my wife and $50ish on parents, brother, grandparents.

I spend a ton. Over $500 for my sister alone right now.

Up to 25 on nieces/nephews, 50 joint to sisters/in laws, 100-200 on spouse, parents.

$600 joint on parents (got them a TV), $50 for each of my siblings (2), $150 on gf, $25 each for her parents and brother

$300 on my parents, $1000 on my husband, $200 on siblings total, $100 on my one year old, and then another $500 on miscellaneous (friends, god parents, daycare teacher, housekeeper)

How do sick days work? Just realized that 1/3 of my “PTO” is actually sick days (and it’s not generous and you don’t get paid out when you leave). I’m very lucky to not get sick but does that mean in order to use some I’ll have to spontaneously say I’m ill with little advanced notice? Seems like a policy which rewards people for leaving their team in a lurch.

Hey could use some honest opinions on this because I’m still in shock. I was preparing to give in my resignation + 2 weeks from EY on Monday to jump ship to Deloitte. I accepted the offer from Deloitte on Friday, and I just got hit with a bomb today that my brother has cancer and we have no idea what stage it’s at. Should I just rescind my acceptance from Deloitte? I don’t know how it would be taken if I start at a new firm and immediately need substantial flexibility and time off.
