Hi Fishers, I have accepted Walmart offer and my BGV has started 3 weeks ago. How do I check my BGV status? I will be joining in mid May. Also, I have been hiding one of the company where I had worked for 45 days and then absconded due to personal issues. Would it create any trouble? They had created my PF account though. Any help would be highly appreciated

What kind of roles pay 200-300k?
Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

No one cares in tech
If you’re already in the industry, getting an advanced degree that isn’t a PhD doesn’t even have nominal monetary value for increasing the size of your initial offer. PhDs will usually come in at one level higher than entry level. However, when you factor in opportunity cost against an average engineer’s promotion cadence, even pursuing a PhD isn’t worth it.
The only time you’d want to get a masters is when you’re pursuing a career change and want to leverage the educational institutions’ career fair. This is how I made the switch from finance to tech.
The only reason I got a Master’s was because my employer at the time had a very generous tuition reimbursement. So I paid almost nothing for it.
Boost in pay? Yes a bump because even in tech you have some leverage. Would I get a PhD? Probably not.
