How much do adcoms really care about candidates who are first gen college students coming from poor URM backgrounds? I wrote about it in my essays because that experience impacted me heavily, but I guess I can't keep shake being skeptical because nobody gave a damn all of my life.

I feel like they may care and it may have a material impact on admissions chances, but only insofar as they can check a diversity box.

So today my salon informed me that they are now “gender-neutral”. Instead of listing prices for women’s and men’s waxing, they list price for “clients with v” and price for “clients with p”. By the way it still costs more to get your b***s waxed.

We hear about addressing the gender pay gap and asking for a raise, but does that actually work? I just went thru an interview process where I was a great fit for the role, but they were looking for a Jr atty (2+ yrs exp) & I have 10yrs exp. 2 interviews, 4hrs of convos, great rapport w/ team. I was rejected bc they “felt I cared more about compensation than role.” I never gave a $ but did have a 5min convo about how I would want to be viewed as Sr given my experience I’d bring to the team.

Anyone else feel like sometimes all you do is babysit your clients and their fragile male egos 🙄 we need diversity in the board room. And we need it bad!!!!!
