how much do Partners have to pay to buy into the firm and become partners?

Scroll down a bit, I think there was a post on this subject in the last few weeks and there were some pretty good answers (and a bunch of inaccurate guesses). I am always amazed by how much misinformation is out there. I speak freely about this subject with anyone in my firm who is interested. This is formally covered in training with senior managers who are on partner track.

Every firm is different. At my firm the initial capital contribution is 150k. A partner then continues to make contributions each year up to a maximum of 800k (the max depends on total comp). We also earn interest on our capital. When we retire, the capital starts getting returned to us. A nice tax free savings account!

Hope that helps a little.

If you’re the same partner who has made similar replies elsewhere, you’re awesome

I can only assume that you’re this forthright and transparent in the office and not only with comp-related questions.

Thank you. The profession desperately needs more individuals such as yourself.

Totally depends on the firm. $250k for me.

Last I heard PwC is $1m

funny

Yes; EY new tax partner revenue goals are $3-5M+. $1M would be a super low goal unless PwC counts revenue differently

How common is it to have an investor in your company also be a customer? As a company should you bend backwards to accept a requirement that serves only the investor and no one else in your customer base?

Good Q. For our 1-3 year people, it’s a 1 hour 2 staff interview. Everything above that is about 2/2.5 hours with 4-6 practice leads/senior staffers and our GM.

Hi Fishes,

I am currently working as an Analyst in HCL Technologies BSERV which is considered as a BPO. I received a promotion to a new job post Sr. Associate-WPC. Is this new position also a part of BPO or does it come under IT or Technical Department? Also currently there is no hike being provided even though the band has changed from 0.3 to 1.1, can I expect a hike once the yearly cycle is completed?

Something about me is both a curse and a blessing - I can't ignore what is not clear, logical, aligned, and simple. Even if that means that I have to work several minutes or hours extra on a document or an email. Things bother me if they aren't as expected. Unless I understand something clearly, I can't let it go. This is what helped me excel at studies. At work, my obsession makes it hard for people around me. If people complain about me, should I just let it go or change my approach?

Anyone here who refiled for extension and got approval?

Would like your advices. Awhile back I applied and was video interview for a position at a competitor. I suspect I wouldn’t get it based on the vibes they gave off. Now randomly I get an email from one of their recruiter asking if I was interested to apply for a similar position. Should I even bother? It might be with the same people.

Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?

Do you record your unbillable time? I have had conflicting responses. I have been told it's not good for efficiency calculations but others have told me if your still doing work let people know. For example, I get weird international stuff sometimes that not everyone gets (I think maybe? ) and I need to reread the 5471 rules or 8865 rules as I do the returns. I have been told not to bill for this but if I didn't have to spend time to do such things my billable hours would be higher
