And we are only in the early stages of Omicron
If it fits in your budget, doesn’t interfere with financial goals, and it works for you, go for it. If not, you need to start going to Walmart bro.
So here’s the thing about budgets/money. People prioritize different things, which is cool. If you want to spend more money on organic food from Whole Foods, it fits into your budget, and you’re okay with the amount you are spending - great! Maybe because you spend this money on groceries you live slightly further from the office and pay less in rent.
Someone else might prioritize living in a city center, pay a ton in rent, and are subsequently looking to spend less on groceries.
Assuming you are paying your bills in full and not taking on credit card debt, you’re good. Everyone has different priorities and should be adjusting your budget accordingly - no one should have the same budget because we’re not the same people. Just make sure you’re spending money on things that are important to you (and spending less on the things that are not important - like if you have a fancy gym membership and don’t go - cut that out. Spend more money on groceries)
I couldn’t have said this better myself!
I do the same thing and enjoy all the food. No regrets at all. Continue what you’re doing as long as you feed yourself!

I spend about 400 a month. 30M.

Listen, I can live on $40/week and I can live on $200. Depends on what’s going on and whether being judicious (about cost, about ingredient quality) matters. That seems reasonable for high quality.
Spend about $650 a month eating organic for two people - 30M and 26F. Before my bf and I moved in together I spent about $450 for just me. He isn’t very picky at all and everything he prefers is pretty cheap.

Also depends where are - organic groceries in NY are more expensive than next to a farm in Wisconsin.
My boyfriend and I spend between $500-$600 a month for the two of us. But we aren’t buying organic or anything, but we do buy lots of meat, veggies, grains… $600 a month each sounds crazy to me but to each is own
That’s reasonable. I do like 400-500 on a plant based diet (mostly raw fruits and veggies). Are you juicing too? That can definitely add to the expense, but health is wealth man.
Haha i don’t even know what you mean by juicing but no just a lot of veggies, fruits, nuts, chicken and some fish. Usually don’t get red meat
I would rather spend money on food than anything else. So keep doing what you are doing.
Think about it this way: for most of human history, we spent like 30% of our money/time on food. Food prices have dropped partly due to technology but mostly due to quality and poor ethical standards. I refuse to buy standard egg/milk/meat (when I do eat those items) because concentrated farming operations are bad for animals, the environment and break numerous international labor laws. On top of that, most grocery store produce uses labor that is paid less than minimum wage.
I put my money where my mouth is and purchase ethical and sustainable food (farmers markets when possible, local or at least organic when not). I know I’m privileged to be able to live this way which is why I feel obligated to do so.
On top of low paid migrant labor, unpaid prison labor is also rampant in the food system in the US.
It should be noted: organic food still can still use prison labor and does not mean people are paid a fair wage. The only way to ensure fair wages is to either purchase directly from the farmer or to do research into the brands.
My husband and I spend $1000 - all organic and healthy (with some ice cream indulgences). This thread has been eye opening, though. I thought we were normal…
I think it also depends on where you live. I live in the Midwest so I spend less on the SAME stuff, I would bet.
$300-$400. 34M
We spend around the same. <29 yrs and 33 yrs.> No regrets at all. I buy mostly organic or non-gmo at Whole Foods .
$1k a month, family of 5
30F and it is around $400 per month cause I eat out sometimes as well. Now... I don't necessarily think that whole foods is synonym of healthy... And I actually think that some stuff is overpriced and meh just because it is sold there. I am not stingy with food, at all, but I do think that there is no need to pay more for something just because of a branding thing, unless it is certified or whatnot. I just buy groceries at the local stores, and I am not picky with meat so I go to the local meatery and etc.
I'm between 400-600 depending on if I have some ambitious recipes to try out
$400 a month on organic meal delivery & $375 a month on organic groceries from Whole Foods. 27F & 29M
My fiancé and i spend about $300/mo, but we go to giant and only buy select organic item. I think if you can afford and enjoy it who cares!
28M $300-$400ish for me and my 27F partner. We could probably buy cheaper kinds of food (salmon once a week is easily a 30% increase in total budget).
I’d say: if it fits in your budget then it fits. I don’t go to Whole Foods because it’s not worth it to me to double my budget.
27M, single, about $350-400/month. I cook 90% of my food, will treat myself to take out maybe 2 times a month.
