PhD, Senior Associate. $193K salary + 25% bonus + profit sharing so all in ~$240-265K depending on the year.
Life science firm with >$1B in AUM. Tier 2 city.
I recognize this isn’t exactly what you asked but hopefully this is helpful. Likely close to post-MBA comp
What is a PPMD?
I don’t think you should benchmark against the top funds, if you get into one of those, pay won’t matter at all because it’s a golden stamp on your career/resume forever... in fact you can probably make more at smaller funds depending on deal flow / exits
OP, if you don't mind, can you share your background, YOE in consulting / industry, and how you came across the opening in the first space? Have been exploring the VC path, but found it very challenging to break into given fewer openings, relationship based, dragged interview process, etc.
What about a top fund in a non major city like Upfront Ventures in LA?
How makes you think la isn’t a major city. And a major city for VC/tech. Articles suggest companies are heading over there and VCs are establishing presence in the city

If you do a bit of research VC salaries are pretty transparent. John Gannon does a pretty good VC salary survey every year. But in summary, your numbers are for the majority of funds too high for pre and post MBA, at least for more boutique funds
There are a lot of no name mediocre VC funds out there (easy capital raising environment last few years I think). As a pre mba associate, I can confirm median base is around 110-120 with 20-25% target bonus. Post mba I believe is median base of 140-150 with same (?) target bonus. No carry for most firms at that level. VC doesn’t pay as well as most people think it does. As a partner once said to me, “VC is a good way to *maybe* make a lot of money in 10 years”
