I spend 400 on golf alone each month lol
I spend $400 a week eat out weekly at minimum
$3-5k is pretty normal for me, gets up to $8k occasionally. Dual incomes with a successful side business helps 😄
what kind of side business? I'm also looking to build passive income streams
Wtf, 400 a month is crazy. You need to live a little. Think I was at ~1250 a month post rent spending and I though that was kind of frugal.
Are you guys teens?
Must be a man
I agree, for someone to live a life at $400 per month means getting a hair cut from great clips, eating McDonald’s and using Lyca mobile

Stop maxing out 401k for a year so you don’t have to live in poverty
That is not the issue. S/he makes 6 figures.
How do you have no other expenses outside of rent? (genuinely curious) phone bill, insurance, utilities, groceries etc etc
Ya do know that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed don’t you ? Live your life, you work to hard not to
That’s wild. Even in college I consistently spent $800+ in the middle of nowhere. Life is short and experiences are different at different stages of life.
I’m spending about 500-600 a month, random expenses keep cropping up (had to take Uber to get vaccine for example)
It’s ok to do a uber for Vaccine. If people won’t spend, how would Uber drivers earn? How’s this damn economy gonna run
Like 1200, you’re barely eating on 400 a month.
Nah bruh this OP is in Ny, but either way that’s just groceries. I spend 1125$ a month after rent/utilities - gas, insurance, haircut, food (500-600)
I’m in SF, so it feels comparable. I know I have a car and you probably don’t, but still. How do you only spend $400 on non-rent items?
I know I buy the expensive eggs at the grocery store, but I spend more on groceries than that.
Do you only eat at home ? Seriously $400 for a single person for groceries? I eat once or twice a week at home.
Do you ever go out to eat..?? When I lived in nyc, and granted I know things are different with covid now, going out to eat was basically my entertainment budget. And it was impossible to eat out for <$100. So are you going out at all? If not that’s not really enjoy nyc.

When I made 68k, I needed about 1700/mo outside of rent/mortgage. It’s the same at $200k
Wait lmao how much did you save back then with that 68k salary
$6-8k on the CC every month...
$5000 per month on top of mortgage.. family of 2
Sad...
Nothing sad about enjoying life... as long as you live below your means and grow your net worth!
After 401k, brokerage, and savings contributions:
Car: $1900
Insurance: $350
Parking: $300
Gas: $150
Haircut: $50
Groceries: $400
Dining Out: $400
Alcohol: $200
Discretionary: $1,000
As my daughter would say “u doin too much bruh”
$1000-$1500. Was a lot less when I could expense things. I fought against lifestyle creep pretty aggressively for a long time but have tried to loosen up a bit as I’ve realized 12-18k/yr just isn’t that much of my DI at this point
Total not rent? Like 1k. Includes, groceries, utilities, phone, gas, car insurances, and then whatever life expenses I decide. I don't normally go too crazy, but I like to eat out.
5-6k.
Family of 5, 3 kids in private school.
Ouch... but I can relate, when you add kids to the equation one no long can drive a 2021 Audi RSQ8 like M4. Am curious though- would living outside NYC, in the burbs (NJ, CT, or East Long Island) help cut that spend significantly ? Or are the school and other costs beside rent the same?
