Hi
How to encash our leaves ... I have 20 leaves
I’m a black woman and I am reeling over George Floyd, but personally my mind can’t stop thinking about what happened to Breonna Taylor because that could’ve easily happened to me. This is clear injustice as well and the protests should continue. Not enough people are speaking about her. If you don’t know about this story, then READ. https://justiceforbreonna.org/
$5k in HYSA, $5k in 401k. $28k in debt (loans - mainly car and personal and some 0% CC). Come from a very low income household so typically send home $1k per month and 10k of debt is in the form of a car loan that I’m paying for my parents.
It’s been very hard to set boundaries since family is always struggling and I’ve often been the one to bail them out regardless of situation.
I just turned 23 and have only been working FT for 8 months so still a long while to chip away at debt and build savings. Went to an Ivy and graduated debt free (but not burden free)
You're amazing and you will get through this. Kudos to you for supporting your family. I hope you don't internalize too much stress... I can't tell you it's going to be ok (no crystal ball and all) but it sounds like you have what you need - good financial sense and a lot of love. Sending you strength!
$70K brokerage, $55K Roth IRA, $20K traditional 401, $60K HYSA, $8K HSA. I’m earn a lot less than most consultants on this thread but try and live super cheap. Looking at real estate investments for a rental in the next year.
*I’m 28.
I’ll start: 15k in a high yield savings account; 10k in retirement accounts; $0 in other investing accounts (trying to build emergency fund before playing in the markets). I’m 22 years old so please don’t poor shame me
Here’s my list
1) Maxout 401K
2) MaxOut Roth IRA
3) build an emergency fund of 6-12 months
4) start saving for investments
50k in savings. Anything above that I move to investments. All of this is after maxing retirement. I have no debt.
100k brokerage, 250k cash, 25k rental property profits, 470k retirement and pension, 110k down payments on 3 properties, 10k savings account
How old?
2k cash, 150k brokerage, 70k 401k/ira, 25 live with parents no debts
Impressive, do you mind breaking down your monthly income and expenses
30k in cash, 15k in taxable brokerage account and 5k in 401k. Paid off 35k loan (that I took from my parents) last year. I should open a Roth IRA and an HSA.
16k in traditional 401k, 15k Roth IRA. 2k brokerage, 5k HSA, 25k cash
Just paid off my car and have cheap rent, but I'm looking at moving soon.
6k cash, 24k investment, 8k Roth, 34k 401k. Paying down ~20k in student loans, but have good interest rates. Will add 50k to my savings this year after clearing a bunch of other debt this past year. 26 years old.
50-70k cash (emergency fund, savings goals, etc.), 50k taxable investments, ~200k trad 401ks, 100k R-IRAs, 120k home equity, 8k HSA (married so 2x iras, 401ks, etc.). Don’t expect that cash number to increase much beyond that. As disposable income increases, I’ll put more into taxable brokerage because my tax advantaged options are maxed out.

380K in paid down apartment that I rent out, 120k in 401k, 75k in cash and 35k in mutual funds, no debt. I’m saving the same monthly amount in mutual funds as before but I save more in cash because I use less money while stuck inside. I would like to save to a down payment for a place in the US as my other apartment is abroad, so that’s why I’m not investing more in the market. I’m 36
