This is the first financial thread here that doesn’t make me feel poor 😂

It clearly was a tongue-in-cheek comment. Chill out, KPMG 1.

Between $100 - $2k depending on the time of the month. It’s a conduit account - I direct deposit into it and rapidly drain it via auto and manual transfers into other accounts

Same

Too much. Just don’t know where else to put it.

Checking: Very little. Less than 1 month of expenses. Really only used for when some places only take checks for payment or I need to withdraw cash. Savings (Marcus - 0.5% APY): My "active" account that receives my paychecks and pays my bills. Keep maybe 1-2 months worth of expenses + any money I need very soon (upcoming vacation or whatever). Feel free to DM me for a referral and we both get an extra 0.2% for 3 months. Savings (HMBradley - up to 3% APY): Emergency fund + future down payment (hoping to get a home in 1-3 years). With the announcement today, they're moving to referrals only for new accounts.

If anyone has an HMB referral to spare, I’m also interested

Enough to pay my bills each month

Sooo how do I get on this high yield checking train?

Between $250-$275 bi-weekly. This is used to buy my groceries usually between $75-90 and eating out on weekends. Usually I am left with less than $50 by the time the next paycheck comes around.

I respect that. I definitely need controls in place to help maximize my investing (I also maximize my investing options, 401k, roth ira, hsa, etc) Just like you and I don't know each other, my general advice is based on the average person. And the average person in the states doesn't pay their credit card balance in full, spends more on debt than the cash they would in cash and has no emergency fund. if you and others don't fall in this bucket Thus my conservative advice, I wish you the best on your wealth journey! 🤗

Seems 900 is where it always lands after paying off monthly credit cards+income

like

Zero

Enough to cover expenses for that month plus a tiny cushion (maybe $1000 extra). Everything else gets routed to investment accounts and savings.

I usually keep $100. I have my bills scheduled for the day after my paychecks hit, so 2 days after I’m paid, I transfer the majority remaining to brokerage accounts.

$10,000, just so I don't overspend. Interest rates aren't great anyway.

I keep about $5k in checking which is about 1 month of expenses.

Do you park your emergency find elsewhere?

10k, build until I hit 30k and then invest back down to 10k

Hi Fishes I’m getting an international transfer from EY Abroad to EY US. Has anyone submitted documents on INSZoom for L1 visa? How long did Visa team take? I feel the visa process is way too long. My H1B visa transfer with EY has been approved. We have received the e-approval. Can I now resign or give notice at my current firm? The guidance apparently is to wait for physical copy of the approval before officially resigning. But that date is uncertain and I’m afraid I could get the physical copy a day before my start date or a week after that. I’d like to give my firm around two weeks notice and I am scheduled to start on 27th Sept. Thoughts? As usual, radio silence from my EY recruiter.
