Pistachio Cream Pie for St. Patrick’s Day

I have a 70/30 split as well
Year 1: $85K base, $122K OTE
Year 2: $93K base, $132K OTE
Promoted to Senior SE for year 3: $120K base, $171K OTE
Could always go for more money, but love the firm I’m with and have a phenomenal work/life balance, so hard to complain
I’d say both.
My last company under paid me at $76K + Bonus/Commission split of $30K, but they never paid out in full (Made about $90K). Total OTE $106K. No RSUs.
Jumped ship (couple of weeks ago) to Sr. Solution Architect $125K+ Commission of $24K for $149K.
YoE = 5 and will be looking to go to lead/Principal in a 2-3yrs after reading this thread as I want to grow and obviously make over $200k.
Should I wait a couple years before jumping again to get more experience?
Agreed, I stayed at my last job for 5yrs and the one before that 4.5 years. This one maybe a 1-2yrs max to get additional experience I'm guessing but I'll start looking. And it appears I need to look at Microsoft or google from what I'm reading...haha! Thanks for the advice, much appreciated!
95.5k OTE, 12 months experience ( internal promotion)
Grossly underpaid looking at this thread lmao
Yes the progression can be quick.
When I started I was at
Year 1: 90k
Year 2: 126k
Year 3: 190k without stock included
240k OTE 60k per year in stock for a TC of 300k 5 YOE (senior in title, used to be a lead at Salesforce making 250 TC)
Wow! That is outstanding compensation, Msft 2. Congratulations ! I’ve never been anywhere close to that working for big technology companies. I’m obviously doing it all wrong 😑
My last company grossly underpaid me at 80/20 split, $107k OTE
Now I jumped ship and am getting 80/20 split, $180k OTE
2.5 YoE
SC1, when describing YoE, are you counting SE specific experience or overall experience in the industry?
Currently a Lead SE. I make about $205k on target earning with 70/30 split on salary and commission. I also received stock option in the 40k range that vest over 4 years.
So it’s $143k base $62k commissions and $40k stocks vested over 4y?
I'm at 230 OTE with a 70/30 split.
Beast mode
135 base
60 commission if we hit targets
I’m a solutions engineering manager based in Canada
Lead SE - $222,575 OTE 70/30 split. RSUs granted at $50k, but have become much more valuable since hired back in 2019.
9 YoE as an SE.
S3 when and how did you get your rsu’s? 3 years ago when hired? Any refreshers?
Lead SE, 200k (140k base / 60k commission)
40k RSU grant (10k per year essentially).
$205k OTE 70/30 split
Test
Bowl Leader
123k base
18k commission
50k per year in RSUs
“Senior SE” with 5 years of work experience. 3 years of SE experience.
Bowl Leader
Update. I now make:
130k base
19,500 bonus
~50k per year in RSUs.
About 240k OTE - in cybersecurity/cloud software. Speaking to some AWS/GCP SE’s they’ve got a low base but huge stock plan and pulling in 400k… but seem to be overworked and leave after an initial 2 years of vesting.
Over 10 years as an SE and a few years in the industry prior to that.
150 OTE 70/30 split. Annual tends to be around 161 after accelerators, etc.
Potential value of $20-30k worth of options every 9mo w/ 4yr vesting period
working in SaaS.
Company?
230 OTE 70/30 split; Senior SE & 4 YoE
That’s really good! Congrats!
Senior SE in Bay Area, 200 OTE (160 Base, 40 commission) 100K in RSUs over 4 years + refreshers TC around 260 due to stock growth
Mentor
Nice!!
Started this year in an SE job with 5-6 YOE in cloud. $135k base and $170k-180k OTE
Is there any SE or Customer Success Engineer working in Italy?
I’m happy for all the people raking in the $$ as sales engineers. It also makes me feel like a failure 😞. I’ve done SE work for Oracle and IBM and never close to these numbers
What are your numbers, what’s your location (US or abroad) and how many years of experience do you have? This should be factored in. And yes, this is a skewed sample so don’t take too literally.
