Q: for FAANG recruiters, do candidates get a reject stamp after failing even at the later stages?
I advanced to the last stage at Facebook (Meta) around a year ago but failed on my last interview, a combination of not being familiar with the process and not having chemistry with the interviewer.
A friend who is a hiring manager recently recommended me and this time without even a HR call I received a straight up thanks but no thanks email.

It depends on how vital the redundancies are. Will one thing stop functioning, or absolutely everything, if they aren't there when needed...
As close as it gets to cannibalizing if it feels like a solid feature. I'm very feature-add oriented, test it out and retire what's not working. The redundancies show what people gravitate towards the most and you can phase them out.
That drives me absolutely nuts as a consumer. I get attached to certain features and then what if my choice wasn't the majority and my feature gets changed to something else. I understanding iterations but having redundancies and A/B testing all within the same experience is a really rocky road for the customer.
