??? That is not how it works. But without getting into it, It’s usually 20% of candidates annual.
Yes ☝🏼. The best analogy I can think of at this moment — it’s like saying you don’t use the far away bathroom at work so you’d like to to add the water savings etc to your salary.
When staffing agencies and companies partner up, the staffing agency will advise on market rate of the role. If the company wants to try to take 20% off that salary to make it fit into their budget, staffing agency will advise to level the role down. At least in my experience. They’re paying for a service. Not every company can pay for enough of their own TA staff to fill for every role so the 20% is worth it to them- Especially for speciality creative roles. I don’t think you’ll be able to really use that as leverage unfortunately, but hey, if you want to give it a shot no one’s stopping you.
I respectfully disagree, in my experience. Usually the brief is written and they try to search on their own. When that doesn’t work they call me. My fee usually comes out of agency overhead, and salary comes out of headcount and based on scopes of work from clients. Of course they try to scrimp here and there but it’s not as some describe it here in fishbowl.
30%
What companies take 30%? I’ve been at 20% for over a decade!
