How much does current compensation factor into the positions you can exit to? For instance, 2 candidates have similar exp, but one is paid much more...does it help with future exits and comp?

No that doesn’t make sense.

I’m currently well above average pay (not at PwC) and wondering how much of a value signal compensation is to recruiters and companies

Ostensibly a person making significantly more than his peers generally provides more economic value...do recruiters and other companies factor that into how they hire?

That’s not how economics work

Hi All,

I have created a simple excel based tax calculator which would help calculate the in-hand salary based on the package offered. It also gives flexibility of HRA calculations, comparison between old and new tax regime, calculate difference between paid tax and remaining tax for the financial year due to change in salary and so on. Anyone interested to get this, kindly like my profile. I need 11 profile likes to open DM and post that, we could use DM to interact and share this excel file.

Pretty obvious but has anyone else thought about the impact on effective comp that comes with the lack of travel, and the consequences for talent management? Banks are jacking base salaries to the moon, but our industry is barely budging.

Consider the loss of food expensing that had netted us hundreds of dollars per week. The lack of payment in lieu of travel on weekends. The rewards points/miles we’re not accruing. The tax-free nature of all of it. Is it any surprise we're hurting for talent?

How common is it for an employer to pro-rate a salary increase if you joined in middle of the year? For context, annual raises are given out in July each year. I joined in January. Normally, I would be getting an 8% raise, but because I came in at about the half year mark, they giving me ~4%. My jaw about just dropped when big boss said this. I mean, inflation doesn't pro-rate. Thoughts on this?
