The MBA ranking definitely matters but it also depends on what you want to do long term. Is it something in public policy or more corporate? That’ll inform which one might be more important for you.
Mentor
Yes, ranking is critical for MBA programs. Assuming youre focused on the USA, top 7 is ideal, followed by top 15 (excluding top 7). Anything below top 25 or 30 may not be worth your time and money, even if they are an otherwise good school. US News is the benchmark ranking to look at. Poets and Quants ranking is a more nuanced view.
It also depends what you want to do, and where. If you're targeting healthcare practice at MBB, top MBA is important. If you want a public sector role, then connections between a local university and a relevant public sector agency/employer may be more important. For example, I wouldn't pay for a UPitt MBA by itself, but regarding the MPH, their medical center has amazing connections in the healthcare and health policy arena in/near Pennsylvania.

Why do you want to do MPH? I heard it’s pretty worthless unless you are in that specific field?
However, still early in my research (clearly) and open to other non-practicing healthcare degrees if another would make more sense. What’s the reasoning behind an MPH being “worthless”?
