Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

This is a tough one. On one hand it would be nice to work at an agency that has people there that look like me, it’s lonely being the only black face. On the other hand, if I vibe with the team and it is good job, sometimes I feel like it’s important to be that first black person and fight to get more in. The sad fact is that the better the agency, and the more Sr you are the less colorful faces you’ll see. For things to change some of us have to stick it out and prove that black people can provide tremendous value to the company and clients.
For example: interviewed at approx 100 person agency. Said diversity was important to me in a company culture. The SVP replied — well we do hire a lot of international folks.

I feel like having internationals at an agency is almost a given these days, especially at larger shops that can easily sponsor visas. When I asked them about diversity, I just wasn’t expecting that to be their answer and only answer. It felt like having international employees was just enough for them to feel like they have diversity.
So is hiring internationals a good thing in your opinion OP?
I always check the "people" page on the agencies site and if it's a bunch of white men at the heml, I'm instinctively apprehensive.

Truuuue truuuue. All valid points. It just feels so draining sometimes being that only one. Where are the agencies that just get it?!
