Nah your spending seems right. Kids are expensive. Housing is expensive. Life is expensive. Just talk to your husband. Maybe he’s bothered but maybe not. You won’t know if there’s an issue if you don’t talk to him. 💕
We have two kids inHCOL and spend about double that, so I think you’re doing ok! as long as you are saving and have a financial plan in place, you’re doing fine.
He could learn to cook too...
Where do you live? We’re a couple with no kids (yet) renting in a HCOL and our monthly spend is at least that much.
In Texas - so not that HCOL
how much is daycare ?
I live in TX with my husband. We have a mortgage, a car note, and no kids. We spend about 5K a month.
$10-$15k a month between mortgage, private school, food, cars, music/sports/acting lessons and Scouts. I have three kids and live on Long Island.
$13-15k a month- nanny, mortgage, car, food etc not including clothing. One child, live outside of Boston
You hereby have my permission to drop the guilt! In case you need it from someone else. If you pay bills without worrying and have money to save and money to have fun with, during a pandemic, you’re doing as well as can be hoped. We truly cannot be bothered to care about food much these days; our 2 year old is flexible (fortunately!) and happy with almost anything, and we just do more takeout these days and call it good. It won’t last forever. (Although my husband absolutely does the bulk of the cooking in normal times, too. I say thank you a lot.)
I wish - we spent $5k/month on childcare alone. Then we have mortgage and everything else!
All of this sounds normal to me. Talk to hubby. He may be unaware of how expensive things are. Mine was shocked at how much grocery prices have gone up in the past year. See if hubby is willing to cook more to save a little extra money.
