Can only give my figures.
I’m a SM who joined as an AC at ZS
219k TC:
170k base + 34k bonus + 15k in RSUs
Only 60% of BMS SM get stock
Mentor
For ZS, generally yes. Some manage D role from ZS C.
OP, honestly I’m not sure the AC to SM, C to AD mapping holds anymore. I’ve heard a lot of AD’s total comp comfortably passing 200k, I don’t think ZS C can achieve that unless very senior. But I also would love to hear more data points on how much are AD /D Paid nowadays in pharma
The mapping isn’t for equivalent pay but for what level one can exit to. Given the slower progression in industry and the heavier bonus/LTI in management, it’s fairly common for TC to go up upon leaving (though base may not change as dramatically).
Is AD possible for an AC?
It is but SM more likely.
AD would require 5 YOE minimum and D is generally 7-8 YOE. There are some variability based on the company and the niche. If there are a lot of suitable candidates they would not bother with some AC/C that barely reaches the YOE requirement, unless you have worked with them before and they liked you.
Also, what’s the typical SM salary ? (base + other components)
I was a post-MBA SC at Deloitte, jumped to Senior Manager at Genentech
Got it - sorry I misread that as you coming straight from your PhD.
My understanding is that equity and cash are standardized and dependent on your org and level. For reference, I’m a SE7 in gRED.
Is AC to SM worth the switch?
I’ve gotten 5-8% bonus before… also the growth trajectory is terrible in industry. I’ve seen ppl stuck at SM or AD for life
