I’m trying to have saved $30,000 for my year at Oxford (loans are covering tuition and housing). That’s only for one year tho.

I’m also getting help from my family but targeting using 60-70k of my own to cover living expenses and put the remainder into investments.

like

You get help from so/parents? Then does it matter?

If I had family help or so to help maybe I’d do $10-15 and invest the rest

Hi friends - need a suggestion. My mother got critically ill due to Covid and has been in the hospital in India for over a month with added complications. Hospital charges are through the roof and it is a long road ahead of us. Are there financial aids, options available to explore to meet the expenses? We are salaried people and parents are retired. We are exploring loan options and wanted to check with this group for other creative ways to manage. Thanks a lot for the help!

My SO is scared to ask his parents for his money back. The money they were holding on to for him. Now that he’s a grown man I think he’s old enough to hold on to his own money. He like needs a valid excuse to ask for it back and I’m like why do you need an excuse when it’s your money and he’s like well I don’t want to start a fight…. And the last time he spoke to his parents about it apparently there’s been some mix ups and so they need to sort thru what’s his etc. (CONT’d in comments)

I know I took out the loans and I should repay them and I’m normally fiscally conservative and against giving out free money. But I am hoping student loans get completely cancelled. It would greatly boost the economy if people do not have them hanging over their heads. However, forgiving what is currently there won’t help long term if the predatory practices around student loans aren’t fixed along with soaring tuition prices and salaries for administrators.

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Is it expected that people who exit from MBB/Deloitte at post mba levels (PL/EM/M) take paycuts when going to industry? (non FAANG, PE). I'm In process at multiple internal consulting/strategy groups who say the paycut is part of the trade-off for less hours/no travel.

But as a female🐠, I can't discern whether this is just a negotiation tactic. Mentors have told me never take less pay.

For reference, this is at a comparable industry equivalent level (not clear up/down)
