I went to INSEAD and made it to a US MBB just fine. Lots of us here. MBB comes to campus to recruit for those offices like normal.
Of the people that attempted to recruit for US MBB in my class (about 30), 12 got offers. About the same rate as the rest of the class.
Caveat is that you have to have citizenship/PR/special visa like for Canadians and Australians, or the US firms won’t even consider you.
It really just depends what you want more.
If US MBB is your end game, go to a US MBA - don’t make yourself an edge case before you even get there.
If you really want the European experience for yourself then absolutely go for it and have a plan to hustle hard for recruiting. Be ok with whatever backup plan you make for yourself.
I agree with McK1. I have friends that went to LBS and INSEAD and it was a bit of a slog to get into the US market. And M7 is a great experience. I loved almost every moment while I was there.
I went to a lower ranked but respected EU MBA and am at BCG US. I was off cycle relative to BCG US MBA hiring cycles and came in as an experienced hire. Meant a smaller starting class size for orientation in my case. Had an MBA classmate join McK US in time for their MBA start class.
Key is to network effectively with a targeted approach to why that firm and office. For me, I found the EU MBA and why I chose it an easy way to positively differentiate myself in the interview cycle.
Now that I’m at MBB in the US I would say: don’t overindex on getting into MBB as your reason for picking one MBA program over another (unless you are 100% positive it is a dream job that you are guaranteed to love for many years). Much of people’s experience getting into MBB comes down to luck, and much of people’s experience once they join MBB also comes down to luck.
Be realistic that there’s likely a trade off between life experience, academic learnings, career services, and lifetime network, and pick the program that makes you the happiest across your personal happiness/utility function.
For Insead at least you’re giving up the internship opportunity, which is where a majority of US MBB FT offers come from. You’ll have to apply for FT recruiting where firms are just trying to top-off their hiring classes.

Yup - was straightforward. I’m Canadian so visa was no problem. If you need a H1B, it’s basically a non-starter though. First rounds were on campus, and then flew in for final rounds will all the MBBs and a T2 during a super week.
Had multiple offers in hand by the time I was on my way to the airport to go back to France.
There’s a strong consulting network from INSEAD in the US, and we are honestly gunning for you to get here. Reach out and people are very happy to talk.

Go to Insead. Not even a question if it’s that much of a fit. Life experience and fulfillment matters.
I had a call with an MBB US recruiter last week and I sensed that she felt like I was kinda snubbing the US M7 program that she recruits at and I felt like she was discouraging of European program. Should I follow her (and everyone else’s) advice and go to M7 or follow my gut and go to Europe?
If you go to LBS, then you can intern. I think Insead has a Dec Start where you can intern over the summer.
