Hi Fishies! (Is that what we are? I’m going with it)
I just came across a Google Research and Insights role that got me SUPER excited and I was about to apply when I had the idea of seeing if anyone would be willing to give me a referral. I understand (and respect) that most of you Googlers on here feel that a referral is only useful if you know the person but I would be happy to jump on the phone to give you some info about me. It would mean so much! 4 YOE at a major audio steaming service

Advice: don’t compare yourself to other people.
At 25, I was worried about paying my bills and didn’t have a concept of saving long term (other than I wasn’t much of a spender anyways).
At 30, I was starting to hit my stride from a salary and career growth perspective. I was consistently saving towards retirement.
At 35, my salary and compensation really started to grow exponentially. Having 10 years of experience on the resume is where you’re really seen as a senior leader.
Any net worth in the positive by age 30 is ahead of the curve.
This made me feel better about my debt (27)!!!
Comparison is the thief of joy.
Comparison is easy to do but not right really…the harder and more meaningful thing to do is try to envision the future life you want and measure the ways you get there
Like for example, I DONT want to work 50+ hours a week but DO want to make enough for a comfortable and meaningful life. Therefore I probably won’t me making $300K a year anytime soon but have my medium term goals of getting a 10% raise this year, etc.
