This feels like a dumb question. If an employer asks for your salary requirement and you give them a number…and it’s less than they were planning on paying for the role…does that run the risk that then they’ll hire you for that when you could’ve made more? They’re getting a bargain and you’ll never know you could have made more?! I’m kind of starting at the bottom by making a career change to HR. I have a minimum I have to make-equal to my current pay. But why wouldn’t I want a raise?!
I went to school in a different country (Jamaica) I have a BSc. in Finance & Management (double major) from an accredited university, now I live in the US and currently work as an Accounting Bookkeeper for a mid size company, I am very good at my job, came in and implemented alot of systems to make everything run efficient and boost productivity. While I feel appreciated by my team, I don't feel I am being paid my worth. How do I start the conversation of asking for a raise?
Happy to have just received my promotion to senior manager after a very challenging year, backed by an even more challenging year prior. I've got my own beliefs what a senior manager does, or should do. I'm keen to hear transition challenges others have gone through when becoming a senior manager.
Tax Staff 1, currently making 56k. You think it’s wild if I ask for 59/60 as a salary raise ?
Cloud Certifications: I️ use aws technologies at work but has cloud certification really helped get a promo or raise in salary. My Aws CSA associate is expiring in few months, I️ need to sit for SA pro. Is it even worth it ?
I’m on a new M&A project and just found out that the client would like our team to join a weekly 8pm call to sync with Asia. My toddler is usually in bed by 8pm but sometimes bedtime runs over. I want to be up for promotion this year but I don’t want to compromise my time with my child. How can I explain to my team that I’m committed to this project but I may join this 1 weekly call late?
How do I find out if I’m being underpaid? 4 years of experience with the same company, a promotion with a 9% raise, and then a 6% raise 7 months back. Currently making about 100k inclusive of bonuses.
EY ratings and promotion released to counselors
Ladies, I am up for promotion soon and have gotten extremely positive verbal feedback on my last project. However, the formal review that I received from the mgr deviated from the verbal review. Mgr claims that he wrote a glowing promotion review, which principal/partner team pushed back on. I don’t trust the mgr’s words because we’ve had some bad blood before and he is telling me to let him circle back w/leadership and for me to stay out of it. Any advice on next steps? Sad and frustrated.
Help! I'm losing my voice. Any quick remedies to help get it back? I can talk in a normal tone, but cannot raise it at all.
I’ve worked in this small enterprise doing marketing content for four months but my resentment is growing tremendously because I am now the go-to person for anything and everything (website, investment pitching and general admin) I just want to quit but my short stint and gaps prior to this may raise a red flag in my next interview. How should I go about it?
2nd year M&A Mgr- promotion to SM seems unlikely for another 2 years- being over 40 what exit options are worthwhile to pursue ?
Been practicing a year now. Of 6 attorneys, 4 will be retiring soon, and I was brought in to hopefully take over. I am troubled: first that my partners largely provide me with no guidance. They handed me a client with a large quantity of fairly straightforward casework and have been hands off since. There also hasn’t been any talk of a raise/performance review. How should I ask for guidance/mentor ship? How do I ask for a raise, or should I presume one is coming?
I'm speaking to my current firm and other firms on promotion to Partner or direct admission to Partner. I'm struggling to figure out which consistent questions I should be asking either internally or during interviews around partner compensation. Other than asking about what the "buy-in" amount is, what other questions should I ask to figure out expected compensation as a partner? Fyi - this is for advisory/risk assurance practices within public accounting firms.
Anyone with a chase reserve card use the “pay yourself back” promotion to get 50% more value out of your points? Thoughts ?
I work as a service tech in Toronto in the biomedical technologist field. How much should be making? I am making $45k right now. And it’s Pennies compared to what I see others making in hospitals doing less than me. I need to get a raise. How much is the proper starting salary for people starting out in this field. How much in Hospitals?? and private companies??
This might be an unpopular opinion but I am going to say it. Women expecting equal salary, equal opportunities for promotion etc. do not expect men to pay for dates, open the door etc. Women can also do that. Lead by example and drive the change please.
Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms? Reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind delaying my promotion to manager to get international experience. Want to experience international before jumping from PA.
I was offered a position at a new consumer agency but with same title, and at the same time recently informed I got a promotion as a SAE at my current pharma agency. I’m happy for the recognition but I want to hop off the pharma train. Which one’s smarter?
Beyond 2 lines the text in each post card is cut off. I wonder how many lines in the comment section?
Not crashing anymore.

What are some consulting cheat codes you know? I’ll start: 1) convince the client that their request is better suited for an extension than the current project scope, 2) keep collecting these so that extension is inevitable 3) extension confirmed 4) convince partner to staff you on another project 5) ??? 6) profit
Who is happy with their WLB to pay ratio? What’s your firm, YOE, and position, and total comp?
Good luck to all the 🐠 interviewing today!
Are we allowed to check our portfolio and do some small trade on ACN laptop during work hours? Provided I still do my task and all
If you make eye contact with a girl and she smiles at you (not at a bar/club) does that mean she's into you, or is that just politeness? In NYC because I know friendliness is common in the south
Packing for a 5 day week on the road. I do it as soon as possible then I don’t think about it during the weekend. When do you do your packing?
Does MBB take summer interns pre-mba? I’m doing the 1-Y program at Kellogg but wanted to see if they would do an internship right before the program starts? Curious if anyone has done that or know of people who have?
Does anyone have insight into the AWS role of Global Account Representative Healthcare and Life Sciences? Would love to chat more…Amazon Web Services
Is it hard to get a job that pays above 80k on 40hrs with 2 YOE at a big 4 mgmt consulting as a background. Looking for LCOL to MCOL cities. Just discovered I can be happy without chancing $. With no travel in play, consulting has lost any last luster. I still want to have a nice lifestyle.
I want to understand. Why do people on LinkedIn… Post like this? Why is this a thing? Leave a comment or reaction.
I got “verbal” offer from PWC for senior associate/ salesforce developer role. Of course I am not trusting with all my heart but how much should I trust at this point? Does PWC normally extend the offer or are they just telling this to bunch of people and choose in between?
