How much of a raise(in %) should you expect as a software engineer after your first year at a company?

This feels like a dumb question. If an employer asks for your salary requirement and you give them a number…and it’s less than they were planning on paying for the role…does that run the risk that then they’ll hire you for that when you could’ve made more? They’re getting a bargain and you’ll never know you could have made more?! I’m kind of starting at the bottom by making a career change to HR. I have a minimum I have to make-equal to my current pay. But why wouldn’t I want a raise?!

I went to school in a different country (Jamaica) I have a BSc. in Finance & Management (double major) from an accredited university, now I live in the US and currently work as an Accounting Bookkeeper for a mid size company, I am very good at my job, came in and implemented alot of systems to make everything run efficient and boost productivity. While I feel appreciated by my team, I don't feel I am being paid my worth. How do I start the conversation of asking for a raise?

I’m on a new M&A project and just found out that the client would like our team to join a weekly 8pm call to sync with Asia. My toddler is usually in bed by 8pm but sometimes bedtime runs over. How do I find out if I’m being underpaid? 4 years of experience with the same company, a promotion with a 9% raise, and then a 6% raise 7 months back. Currently making about 100k inclusive of bonuses.

Ladies, I am up for promotion soon and have gotten extremely positive verbal feedback on my last project. However, the formal review that I received from the mgr deviated from the verbal review. Mgr claims that he wrote a glowing promotion review, which principal/partner team pushed back on. I don’t trust the mgr’s words because we’ve had some bad blood before and he is telling me to let him circle back w/leadership and for me to stay out of it. Any advice on next steps? Sad and frustrated.

Been practicing a year now. Of 6 attorneys, 4 will be retiring soon, and I was brought in to hopefully take over. I am troubled: first that my partners largely provide me with no guidance. They handed me a client with a large quantity of fairly straightforward casework and have been hands off since. There also hasn’t been any talk of a raise/performance review. How should I ask for guidance/mentor ship? How do I ask for a raise, or should I presume one is coming?

I'm speaking to my current firm and other firms on promotion to Partner or direct admission to Partner. I'm struggling to figure out which consistent questions I should be asking either internally or during interviews around partner compensation. Other than asking about what the "buy-in" amount is, what other questions should I ask to figure out expected compensation as a partner? I work as a service tech in Toronto in the biomedical technologist field. How much should be making? I am making $45k right now. And it’s Pennies compared to what I see others making in hospitals doing less than me. I need to get a raise. How much is the proper starting salary for people starting out in this field. How much in Hospitals?? and private companies??

This might be an unpopular opinion but I am going to say it. Women expecting equal salary, equal opportunities for promotion etc. do not expect men to pay for dates, open the door etc. Women can also do that. Lead by example and drive the change please.

Anybody with 3 YOE+ switch from Core tax to their international group? How was the transition? Did you have to step down a level if you were a recent senior/manager? Did you have to switch firms? Reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind delaying my promotion to manager to get international experience. Want to experience international before jumping from PA.

I got “verbal” offer from PWC for senior associate/ salesforce developer role. Of course I am not trusting with all my heart but how much should I trust at this point? Does PWC normally extend the offer or are they just telling this to bunch of people and choose in between?
