One of our star coders was recently rejected from a promotion because they lacked the number of years of experience required. They've cut back their number of overtime hours dramatically and have started blogging about their skills, probably to attract recruiters. How do I convince them to keep their previous performance?
What is a livable wage to live in DC proper? Not Arlington. I’m an analyst with one year experience at Accenture going up for promotion.
Hi all - I need your help. I am currently a senior in Deloitte’s audit practice, and by the end of May 2022 I will be promoted to Manager. Deloitte filed for my PERM in early December when I was clearly a senior, so I am expecting a decision on PERM by late May/June. Does my promotion to Manager in any way slow my GC process down? Will I need to restart perm application from PWD stage again or something? Deloitte EY PwC KPMG
I live in one of the most expensive cities in the US, and even with combined incomes of $600k, my SO and I can not afford (nor justify) a 3-bedroom house (median price north of $2M). We also work nonstop and I don’t know how we’ll be able to raise a family with our workload and COL. Looking to relocate and find a new job where I work 40 hours a week so I can raise a family, where COL is much lower but we don’t take a massive pay cut. Does such a place exist?? Or am I looking for a fairy tale?
Audit S1 strongly considering leaving PA for IA, for a nice raise and the ability to get paid for drawing boxes around other people’s work. PA has eliminated any interest in doing work and career ambition that I’ve ever had, 6 figures and coast until retirement is all I need. Tell me why I’m right or wrong.
Hi Fishes, I joined Accenture on Sept'2021 as a Azure DevOps Engineer. I have fixed pay of 10.7 LPA + Variables(21%) = Around 13LPA. What's the maximum package that Accenture is giving for Level 11 person? And whats the promotion scenario for SSE role? THANKS in advance.Accenture
Have you worked on a weekend? This is my first time experiencing this and I really want to raise this with my CD cause it’s concerning. Accounts are pushing me to send the layouts on a Sunday.
Anyone else have parents who they don't look up to? Sure they worked hard and are loving, but they literally don't know anything about anything. Not worldly wise, not suave, not well spoken, not fit, no idea about nutrition, not organized, just nothing I can look up to them about. Mine are nerds and even that in an outdated skillset now. Just feel like they are a compass on what not to do. But then feel guilty for thinking that.
I broke up with my girlfriend yesterday. We dated for a little over a year. She was crying hysterically, screaming at me, and told me numerous times that I just wasted her time. I was shocked by her reaction and didn’t expect this type of reaction from her. I remained calm, didn’t raise my voice, and I was trying to get her to calm down, however she just kept screaming. Since I broke up with her at her place, I just walked out and left. Should I check up on her or just let it go? I feel guilty
Anybody been offered a promotion with no corresponding pay rise? I assumed that was impossible but am worried that may be what's on offer. Surely not??!
#PromotionDayQuestion: For those making Senior, do we get an official mail to collect those different badges/lights to highlight our promotion at MSG? Or we just walk to the promotion badge table?
Is it advisable to ask about compensation package in the first informational screening with the recruiter? It’s a role that I would only consider if the pay and promotion track are reasonable. I don’t want to go through the interviews if pay isn’t negotiable.
If your promotion leaves you undervalued and your boss says it's not a reflection of your skills and ability, it was a decision based on "pay band". How do you fight for the right title?
How does everyone approach career development plans / promotion planning? What time horizons do you use? Ahh specific frameworks?
Thoughts on posting promotion updates on LinkedIn during this time? Being mindful of mass layoffs and the unemployment rate, do you think those who earn promotions should postpone posting the update?
What’s the best time to leave audit as a manager? As soon as you get the title? Stay until you see your pay raise? Wait until toy have a year in the role under your belt?

Hi guys, I feel really lost and stuck at my cybersecurity role at Deloitte. I have three years of experience in vulnerability testing and risk management and feel like salary is not what I actually deserve. What do you guys recommend I should do? Move within Deloitte or move to another company? Deloitte
Country wide, everybody in my company is applying to the same bschool. Essentially same competitive pool. This will be fun.
I mean if NATO being on doorstep is the issue, this brings Russia to doorstep of 4 more NATO countries? And how exactly is Ukraine threatening to Russia? Has to be something else (resources, influence?) I don't buy the Nato argument
I don’t know if I’m from a different generation but I can’t believe I have to ‘set expectations’ w my analyst to at least check their email *once* on the weekend to see if anything’s blowing up
I’m a pregnant American citizen that wants to travel to give birth. What’s a good country to land in that will give foreigners good maternal care with reasonable out of pocket expenses?
Anyone want to give me a like so I can get to 11 ♥️’s in order to DM for a referral. I’ll like all comments for this post in return and I hope others will as well. Let’s all get to 11+ hearts together.
I think I drink more now than in college
Any recs for a new, easy bar drink to share with a client. Jack and cokes aren't too becoming anymore (I guess). Thoughts?
I’m a new hire and I feel like I’m not adding any value to my project. My team members seem like they got everything down and when I ask if I can help, they don’t really give me much. What should I do
McKinsey response to nyt story!!!
So I learned today that my old CEO wanted to fire me while I was on maternity leave because "she isn't bringing in revenue and she's costing money." And he said I took "extra time" even though there was no actual policy, so they told me to take at least 12 weeks AND the COO approved it herself without issue. I want to text everyone who still works there and put CEO on blast. Someone tell me not to.
Is Big4 still a good career long term? Is ‘the safety’ actually real or just a mirage due to the lack of recession? Everyone I talk to sounds like they are way better off than pursuing this one. Have met only 1 or 2 Partners who jobs I would like to pursue. 6 years in and I think I’m having a little career crisis.
What should my strategy be for beach time between current case and follow on in two weeks?
For people that didn’t go to Ivy League, do you think you would have had better opportunities if you had? As a person that went to a middle tier school, I am very fortunate to be as smart as I am and had the experiences that I had to get me to where I am. But I do feel inferior to my Ivy League colleagues, i do genuinely feel most are smarter
