Should you always counter an offer? If I receive an offer that is above my minimum acceptable salary, should I still counter?

I was offered X$ as a salary for a supervisor role. I asked for 10k more as a counter and received a greater breakdown of the correct pay being offered. With bonuses and shift diff it comes to maybe 5k more. That is only if the bonuses and overtime bonuses kick in. Do I still go with my original counter? This is very confusing for me.

Just joined ey as a manager. How quickly do you expect your managers or seniors to get up to speed on a client that may be a bit complex? I usually as a manager would give people atleast one season. Just wondering what senior managers and partners expect if managers. The client im on is a bit complex and it’s taken me a bit of time to learn. I switched from Big 4 to a mid-sized firm a few months ago. The sole reason was for for a good pay raise. However, I'm not loving the new job as much, because of lack of resources, outdated technology, and work opportunities are not what I thought. Is it crazy to go back to my old firm? I really liked my coworkers there, and could perhaps ask for a better raise since I left. I maintained good relationships with my old team. Is it bad to leave after only a few months?

Hi everyone! I’m an S1 in tax at a Big 4 in NY (only been here for a few months). I was recently offered a chance to join a long term engagement (at least one year) for a massive new client. I’ll only be focusing on the tax provision aspect for them. They’re building out a team just for this client from scratch. Do you think this is a good project to be on? Any negatives or drawbacks? Dealing with uncooperative client. I don’t understand how some people can run their own business when (1) They don’t know how to use a computer but can email; (2) Don’t have a P&L to provide. I can’t complete their SCH C. They claim they snail mailed it but nothing was received. They can’t use a fax because they don’t have a fax machine. They don’t know how to use the attachment feature on email. They provided it last year why not this year. Happy Friday! I’m going to cry.
