We have quite a bit of time in our district for planning. I have a plan period every weekday (around 50 minutes). In addition to our plan periods, we have hour long team meetings Wednesdays after school and monthly half days where the second half of the day is used for collaboration with other teachers.
I wish we could use our half days for planning! Our principal usually has an agenda set. I wish we could use that time to collaborate and plan.
In my district we get 50 minutes 4 days per week, and 40 minutes on Wednesdays (early release days). I feel lucky because I know that a lot of teachers don't get that much time...but there is still not enough time!
Our district provides 45 minutes each day, however much of this time is taken up with mandatory meetings. I stay late once a week until I get everything done for the following week. I'm usually there until 10, so I choose Fridays for that.
Our 4-8th grade prep is 45 minutes (30 on Wednesday). CLT on short Wednesday is sometimes meetings, sometimes collaboration. I guess the 25 minutes between the final bell and end of contract time counts, too? I like to take advantage of my husband’s day off to work late 1 evening and then I usually bring home the rest and try to pull a late night Friday (whether or not this works depends on the week- some are too exhausting!)
